It doesn't smell of shite, the earth I had to scrape off it was quite inoffensive. The two tabs have eyes through them like I could lift it off with the right tool but I don't have anything that suits.

It is about 6 feet further away from the main street sewer than the kitchen drain at the back of the house.

If it’s doing it’s job it shouldn’t smell.  Looking at it it’s probably of an age where it could be dual system, i.e. combination of rainwater and grey water.

It would be quite handy to see if it is still connected because the drains need professional clearing about once a year (old hoose, small pipes) and if I can get a rod down that I could stop paying a bloke 80 quid to pump water down my drains.

If you get the cover off take a photo and post it.

Ah right, all makes sense now.

It’s a rodding eye installation.

Not a manhole.

Cleaning up the garden and we decided to lift a slab we've never know why it was where it was and this was underneath. Something to do with pipes? We've got a mains shut off in the street and I've nothing to lift it off with to see inside.

You could try showering more than once a week...

Since when did Strongbow lower the ABV of their regular cider to 4.5?

Probably to get around the minimum pricing thing, no idea when it happened though.
