The New Raith Rovers Thread

Cleland is the kind of the left-wing appointment I was thinking.

I'd like any coach who comes in to seriously start utilising our youth. Callachan and Vaughan are the only 2 I can think of who've been successful in coming through in the past 10-15 years and that's only from halfway through last season. It's an area which we have seriously neglected and can provide a regular income stream in terms of transfer fees if you get it right.

All this being said no doubt we'll go for Billy Reid now....

The press certainly do appear to be giving that impression. Matt Elder seemed to reckon up to another ten days, but the Courier has went with something similar to The Herald and seem to think it'll be today.

Just have to hold on I guess.

Cleaned has been around for years and had many a failed application/interview. Suppose, law of averages says someone will eventually give him a chance. Not sure why no one has taken a chance on him?

His credentials will be spotless I assume.

Or maybe the board think he's a jumped-up little p***k.

Possibly. Maybe Eric D could comment on the Board's feelings towards said jumped-up little p***k. Edited by Scary Bear

Give it a couple of months and the South Stand will be on his back just as they did with Murray.

Murray had about a year and three quarters before anyone even considered wanting rid of him. We had an exceptionally dull opening season with him and a terrific start to his second season. Then it all went tits up and the murmurs started - and even at that I don't think there was any calls for his head at a game until Dunfermline away at the start of this season. More than two years into the job.

Still no idea who I'd appoint in all honesty, but Gary Naysmith I do not particularly like the sound of. I think the lack of a clear favourite is a good thing for the board. If, say, Danny Lennon was still available and wasn't appointed, there'd always be the feeling of what might've been if the new guy was struggling. I'm still tempted to say Derek Adams is the best man for the job but I still don't like him. Would have mixed feelings. Davie Kirkwood, no thank you.

As was pointed out, Murray was given a lot of time to prove he was up to the job, in fact far too much time. If the new manager is as bad as Murray (if thats possible) he'll have the fans on his back, and after our experience with Murray I expect the fans will want to see a fairly quick improvement on the pitch.
