Put the signings to the side for a second, he still chose a 2 year deal when he could have signed a 1 year deal. Big shock that one.

Looking at your manager who was a shitebag the last time at this level, was a shitebag last year and got you relegated, we are thankful for a manager who is not and has a good track record of getting more than the sum of its parts out of his squad.

Pretty content over here.

Will history repeat, Hopkin taking his club down before rising again.

The majority of the current Morton squad were horrific last season and recruitment at that level is key.....see Hartley

One of those signings I’d be raging at if we were in the championship but we’re in the diddy leagues so I suppose it’ll do.

2 year plan. Building for the Premiership...

Connolly is an absolutely fantastic signing at this level. To sign three upper championship/premier league players at in league 1 just shows the attraction Ray has as a manager.  A few more signings of this quality should guarantee us first place.

Away and wipe the shite away from your nose

Tidser aside, where are all these players that Ray said would challenge for promotion to the Premier league once you're promoted? Throw in a Cammy Bell for good measure and maybe a cheeky Rory McKeown that played under Ray and there's not a chance that you're up the right end of the championship in two years with this squad so far.

That's the bit that concerns me a wee bit TBH. Tidser is apparently potentially premier quality (although I never seemed to notice him too much against Morton) but not so sure about the other two.

Wingers are notoriously bad at being brilliant for a few games or even a season then being absolutely pish for ages afterward. Thinking of the likes of Bobby Barr, Hippolyte, King, McMullan, Cardle, Longridge etc etc. There's loads of them. I suppose as good ballers then they're likely to be inconsistent types though?

I'll certainly give all 3 the chance to prove that they're good enough to play for us though.

If they get us out this league then we can worry about who we need to sign to get us further next season. If players arent good enough they can still get punted out the door early as we've seen over the past two years.  Looks like its taking 2 year deals to get  some decent quality for this level signed up.

Considering we only have about 6 or 7 players signed up I'd say you are right

Morton fans coming in when we sign a player

They've just signed an absolute diddy up top and a winger who has been relegated two seasons in a row with Brechin, couldn't make it up :thumsup2

I thought Connoly would have been a much better player for Dunfermline than he turned out to be but, as I'm sure their fans will agree, you could say that about most of their signings last year. McKinnon is the manager to have gotten the best out of him in the past so hopefully he can get him back on track.

So we're now at

GK

RB Buchanan CB LB

Paton McShane

McLean Tidser Connolly

ST

Assuming Mutch, Dunne and Laverty will be fringe options and McGhee, Robson and Dixon are still to decide one way or the other we've got some work to do up front and in goals.

Cammy Bells career has gone off the tracks big time but I'd take him unless he's on wild wages. No idea about strikers at all.

Just saw that Tom Taiwo retired at 29.

I liked him a lot during his time here, it's a shame that injuries have forced him out of the game early.

Get him in backroom staff. Tackling coach.

Wasn’t the most talented but a guy who played with his heart on his sleeve, and when was out for ages done stuff like Falkirk TV commentary which was good insight and change from the norm. No one would’ve bat an eyelid if he done nothing when out long term but he was always wanting to get in about it.

With regard to Buchanan, whilst he's unproven to be "premier league" quality, he has been involved in two promotion winning campaigns with St Mirren and Livingston (albeit transferred from one to the other in the same season).  He has certainly proven that he is capable of holding his own in a promotion winning team.  That's the sort of experience we need IMO
