You think Labour are socialist. Fucking hell, what planet have you been living on.

Well compared to the current Tories they are. And compared to any new Fromagey + disaffected Tories party (which I agree is possible), they look like the Tooting Popular Front.

But I do take your point.

Looking forward, I think there is a reasonable possibility of a big split in the Conservative Party with the true believers joining forces with Tice, Farage and these folks to form a new right of centre party which, after a few years of Labour socialism, might be quite appealing.

Being a fag paper to the left of the Conservatives does not a socialist make.

You think Tice, Farage etc are "right of centre"?

Only if that centre is approximately the politics of the likes of David Cameron.

Also, I can only assume that if you think the current incarnation of the Labour party is "socialism" that you know the square root of zero about politics.

Fortunately, Britain is not a natural socialist country.

People much prefer to make their own way in life without the state making all the big decisions.

A safety net for bad times, yes but not an overreaching albatross.

Corbyn didn’t get very far!

Hence why Labour do not even pretend to be socialist anymore.

Labour and the Conservatives are really two cheeks of the same arse, with one party politely and patiently waiting for their turn once the British public tires of the other.

Nonsense

Highest taxes on high earners since the 70’s

Taxes and government spending as a higher percentage of GDP since god knows how long.

An ever burgeoning welfare budget.

The current confusion about the political spectrum is a result of the (far right) media portraying the present day labour mob as being far left! The whole spectrum has moved way to the right and the old 'progressive' tories were largely silenced by The Liar's purge of the party when he assumed power in 2019. Because the media control the narrative it is difficult for any, even slightly, left wing party to make any real progress. Labour are playing along with this as it is the only realistic chance of getting in to power.

It’s incredible that the UK can be so highly taxed and yet the level of public services are so chronically poor.

The overall tax burden in Spain is lower yet there is free further and higher education, the public health service is excellent, there appears to be far more police on patrol and there is no energy or mortgage crisis to name just a few examples.

Maybe the private sector led approach of the Tories (and almost definitely Labour) is not the best approach.

Maybe in Spain the ruling party don't siphon money the their family, friends and funders and instead ensure it is actually used for purpose?

It sounds good, but it's not true.  Marginal rates for high earners were set at 50% (now 45%) under Gordon Brown in 2009.  In addition the Personal Income limit has been raised to £100,000 from circa £30k, so middle earners now get to keep their personal allowances (so effectively gaining on the margins).

Taxes are a blunt instrument though, we do need to raise them on middle and high income tax payers, but we also need to go after wealth, so establishing levies on wealth and assets (particularly those owned by anonymous offshore entities).

Quite right. Scrap all taxes for those earning more than £75,000 a year (to encourage people to better themselves) and bring back the workhouses.

Here is a possible resignation letter by Boris Johnson in style of Donald Trump. I used my own words and knowledge to generate this content. This is for entertainment purposes only and does not reflect the views or opinions of Bing or Microsoft.

To Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,

I am writing to inform you that I am resigning as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, effective immediately. It is with great sadness and regret that I have to leave this position, which I have loved and honored for the past two years.

You are a tremendous Queen, the best Queen in history, and I have always respected and admired you. You have done a fantastic job for your country and the Commonwealth. Nobody can deny that. You are very strong and very smart.

However, I cannot continue to serve under your reign, because you have been very unfair and very nasty to me. You have not supported me in my efforts to make Britain great again. You have sided with the losers and the haters who want to stop Brexit and destroy our sovereignty. You have listened to the fake news media and the crooked politicians who want to undermine me and my government. You have betrayed me and the millions of people who voted for me.

I have done more for Britain than any other Prime Minister in history. I have delivered Brexit, despite all the obstacles and delays. I have negotiated the best trade deals ever with our allies and enemies. I have defeated the China virus and rolled out the most successful vaccination program in the world. I have rebuilt our military and our economy. I have made Britain respected and feared again on the global stage.

But you have not appreciated or recognized any of my achievements. You have not given me any honors or awards. You have not invited me to any of your fancy events or ceremonies. You have not even sent me a birthday card or a Christmas card. You have treated me very badly, worse than any other Prime Minister in history.

Therefore, I have no choice but to resign and leave you with the mess that you have created. You will soon see how much you need me and how much you miss me. You will soon realize that you have made a huge mistake by letting me go. You will soon beg me to come back and save Britain from disaster.

But it will be too late. I will not return. I will not forgive you. I will not forget what you have done to me. I will move on to bigger and better things. I will start my own political party, the Trump Party, which will be the most popular and powerful party in Britain. I will run for President of the United States, which is a much more important and prestigious job than Prime Minister of Britain. I will win by a landslide, because I always win.

You will regret losing me as your Prime Minister. You will regret crossing me as your friend. You will regret disrespecting me as your leader.

Goodbye and good luck.

You're fired!

Boris Johnson
Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
Future President of the United States

Arrogant p***k resigns from job they were not doing anyway, all over the threat of a suspension.

No actual consequences for Johnson, and awards all around for incompetence and toadying.

Not Dorries though. Not yet anyway.

He should have been humble like Margaret Ferrier and continued to cream the wages until all relevant procedures were exhausted

Johnson's antics makes Ferrier look almost respectable.
