People need to get a fucking grip. Utter, utter nonsense.

This virus seems to have about 10 times the mortality rate of typical seasonal flu, which kills between 290,000 and 650,000 people a year globally (though many of them were going to die of the first thing they caught anyway).

Perspective needed, sure, but it's not "utter, utter nonsense." Folk with underlying health conditions are at risk, and their risk increases if the rest of us carry on as normal.

Incidentally, my sister is saying they don't have any proper face masks available at Ninewells and a request for supply returned with a six month wait. They only have a handful of single use disposable masks which are reserved for theatre use. Staff are being told to buy their own.

Anyone would have thought no basic preparations had been made to mitigate a much predicted and inevitable pandemic.

Why don't medical professionals just say face masks do f**k all? Sure for surgical staff where it's to stop them sneezing into someone's guts but why are they going along with the charade of wasting money on buying them for punters?

The main benefit of face masks is they stop you touching your mouth or nose with your fingers, so not a waste of time at all given the virus can survive on surfaces for hours.

Disappointed with the Swiss results so far. I thought that land border with Northern Italy might have given us some kind of competitive advantage. Really need to try harder.

Since we are all going to get this, who is worried about dying from it? I have been dismissive so far but as the inevitability grows, I feel I might be due this opponent some more respect

I’m planning to impose a 14 day self-isolation order on myself at the first sign of a sniffle. Hopefully when a couple of St Mirren games are on so I don’t need to go. Thinking of getting my supplies in early, and setting up my coronavirus panic room in a spare bedroom. Hankies, tablets, bottles of water. Beer, crisps, chunky Kit Kats. PS4, spare handset, Gran Turismo Sport. iPad, Pornhub, X Hamster.... see youse’ in a fortnight.

After yesterday's hangover this thing will be a cakewalk.

37, in half decent nick and have no (known)underlying medical issues. I reckon I can survive it.

All the same, I've had a bit of a cold for the last week and I am now considering whether or not I should get myself tested. If nothing else it might score me a two week holiday.

Off to Paris next week for a conference, surprised we've not heard anything from the organisers CRU about it, any potential cancellation will cost them a fortune. Hopefully this COBRA meeting suggests a cheeky wee 2 week self isolation for those travelling back from countries that have it. Cupboards need a clear out.

I want it on my terms. At the correct time on my shift cycle, hangover free so that I can make it through the rough first few days. If anyone gets it can they get in touch and give me the opportunity to lick their face before checking in to the hospital?
