TxRover
At this point, it’s literally pointless to rush anything. They can’t recover the sub in time to have any hope for those inside, as even allowing for a period of unconsciousness prior to death won’t give enough time to get the sub surfaced and open. I was wondering about the potential irony of some merchant ship stumbling upon the sub bobbing on the surface, and being able to see the people inside banging away on the window but neither having a crane capable of lifting the sub out of the water nor probably having the right tool to open the hatch in time.

HibeeJibee
Surfacing feels unlikely... even if somehow not spotted, surely it has transponders or devices that would send data signals.

Hedgecutter
Is this going to be another one of those things like that twat who flew into his own funeral for a TikTok video last week? The oddest OceanGate PR stunt.
btb
Even a billionaire's family can have a Compo Face! Quote British billionaire's family accuse OceanGate of taking 'far too long' to report disappearance The family of British billionaire Hamish Harding, who is on board the missing Titan, has accused OceanGate of having taken “far too long” to report the sub’s disappearance. Popular Post AUcal
What a daft thing to do. Find the general response to this to be ridiculous and OTT. Migrant boat sinks in the Med with literally hundreds of lives lost and you're lucky if it stays in the news for 1 day and hardly anyone questions the lack of support or help for the vessel. Some mad billionaire c**t and his mates jump in a submersible operated by a playstation controller, it all goes tits up, and it dominates the news cycle for days, with countless resources out to try and find it. Melanius Mullarkey
If they’re going to try and recover this, make sure the “they” is a Branson/Musk type c**t and not the coastguard.

Massive wealth, overconfidence in technical mastery of natural conditions, and unnecessary risk taking, combine in a fateful voyage with a likely tragic and potentially mysterious outcome - the 'splendour', 'intrigue' and 'drama' of which seems to grip world attention. I thought we were all meant to be against helping small boats?!

Be a bummer if they get it working in the next half an hour to communicate with mercy crews and save the day, but all they can pick up is an incoming broadcast of Super Scoreboard and they draw their dying breaths listening to Hugh Keevins spouting his pish.

An uneducated guess I would forward is that the ship was filled with lower class folk? Absolutely... Culturally also more 'romance' steaming headlong into an icefield then slowing sinking with associated drama (unsinkable/SOS/lifeboat away/Carpathia/band playing/etc.), than hitting a collier with everybody in bed and rolling over. Reflecting this: don't suppose many millionaires want to visit the wreck of Empress of Ireland... even though - indeed partly because - she's only 130 feet down in the St Lawrence River.
