Quote Nigel Farage fell below the financial threshold required to hold an account at Coutts, the prestigious private bank for the wealthy, the BBC has been told. It is understood that he was subsequently offered a standard account at NatWest which owns Coutts. Guest
I think the biggest function of Farage is to cause distraction from actual politics. He's a weapon of mass distraction. This nonsense the last few days was concocted out of nothing and the media made sure to promote it into the public discourse. Even his Brexit can be seen as just one big long distraction from actual politics. It's only now with it finally ended that we see workers' pay and conditions being focused on and strikes happening. The destruction of the NHS is again at the forefront of people's concerns and climate change is finally receiving some attention. Farage received enormous financial patronage from the beginning and unrivalled media promotion. I think that elite backing was because he could divert the electorate's attention away from issues of distributive justice.

welshbairn
FT says he recently redeemed a mortgage he had with Coutts, which brought him under their financial threshold. The truth is prosaic but doesn't plaster him all over the news as an anti-establishment warrior and victim, the lying wee spiv.
Johnny Martin
It's amusing to watch posters rush to the defence of the bank, blindly believe their spin. Banks are known to be paragons of virtue, right enough Plenty existing Coutts customers are saying the threshold claim is nonsense, and as time goes on it becomes more and more clear that this is indeed a political decision. This one ain't over. Expect plenty twists and turns. -

Aye, imagine not believing a known liar, and instead believing the reason given by the people who shut down the account, for shutting down the account. Gimp.

This one ain't over. Expect plenty twists and turns. It seems quite clear that it’s not a political decision. Only a complete imbecile would think that banks do anything for reasons other than increasing profits. Nigel’s “politics” are completely on brand for Coutts. I’d like to see the attention seeking xenophobic liar put his money where his mouth is and take them to court for discrimination.

The problem you have is that he admits he was offered a Nat West account instead, and that his account was closed after paying off his mortgage which brought him below the bank's minimum financial threshold. He lies for a living and mugs like you fall for it every time.
Trogdor
What a hilarious conclusion to this. Farage is an attention seeking gimp. The fact he is too poor for an account at Coutts must really be tearing him up. Does this constitute a self own?
