Led Zeppelin's lesser-known hit.

There's now under 3 months left...

Saturday 27th April 2024     Semi-Final 1st leg
Saturday 4th May 2024         Semi-Final 2nd leg
Saturday 11th May 2024      Final 1st leg
Saturday 18th May 2024      Final 2nd leg

SPFL2 ends May 4th and Clyde - homeless, hapless, increasingly helpless - are now 10pts adrift with a worse GD. Beached like some great whale on the sandbar of last place, it'll take enormous efforts to make-up 11pts in 13 games.

Lowland finishes on April 20th and most contenders have 9 or 10 games left. East Kilbride are out in front - and it looks like only a collapse in their form plus perhaps a surge from Tranent could overturn that. They meet at K-Park on Tuesday.

Disturbing situation exists in Highland - due to conclude April 13th but it'll surely go on another week - where Brechin narrowly lead Banks o'Dee, but Buckie + Brora haven't reached halfway yet with 18 + 19 left respectively. Difficult speculating who'll prevail.

I'd like to see Brechin come back. It'll make a good story if they're the first team to return from the 5th tier.

Clyde going down would be utterly hilarious. Even more so if Cumbernauld Colts managed to catch EK then beat them in the playoffs.

What’s the position re licensing at East Kilbride? According to the list on the SFA website Cumbernauld Colts are the only Lowland League side currently able to step up.

Ground is already rated at bronze so only issues are likely to be stuff like having a club doctor. Don't think that's going to provide a Get out of Jail Free card.  From what I have seen posted they don't need to be at bronze until the start of next season.

From the letter sent to all SPFL , SHFL SLFL clubs last October:

Since the Membership Criteria compliance date is 31 March prior to any Season this requires all clubs in the SHFL and SLFL, which consider that they have any prospect of being the champion club of the relevant league, to ensure compliance with the SPFL Membership Criteria and/or the making of any required applications for approval/waiver/period(s) of grace not later than 31 March 2024, i.e. some weeks in advance of knowing which club will be the champion club of each of those leagues.

The waiver and grace period(s) part is what extends it to the start of the following season.

Banks O'Dee is like a much better Cove in terms of an away day.

It's just about walking distance from the Train Station - ground itself is okay, a bit small, but fine.

I don’t see anything in the membership criteria letter saying this. It does give exist SPFL clubs 'a period of grace until 1 July 2024 to achieve a Scottish FA Bronze Club licence.' For potential candidates for promotion it requires an application by 31 March with no guarantee that this will be successful - 'each such application is considered on its own merits and no assurance is given that any waiver, relaxation, period of grace and/or approval will be granted by the SPFL Board in the event that such an application is received.'

Believe what you want it's all there in black and white. There is no need to be bronxe licence compliant on March 31st if waivers and grace periods are approved, so it is not just Cumbernauld Colts that are eligible for promotion.

The SPFL Membership Criteria has always exceeded the SFA's Entry Level license. Waivers/period of grace has always been built into the set-up. No different than in the SPFL when there was the Championship/Premiership Bronze level divide.

I'm not sure where there's a lot of Chicken Littles running around now.

If that's true, Cove must be even grimmer than it looks.
