Why anyone would want to walk along Links St is an absolute mystery to me. Makes the Gaza Strip look like Beverly Hills.

To be fair if the SNW guys want to walk along Links St looking for a fight then there are plenty of residents there who will give them exactly what they are looking for.

Most football supporters just want to wind each other up for 90 mins and have a pint or 2 and a chat when the game is done.

It's not just numbers of police officers, it's strategy.

I'm not blaming one set of fans any more or less than the other for the aggro on Links Street, but when most of the Pars boys are coming from the High Street, surely the police should be escorting them up Milton Road, which brings them closer to the away end anyway.

The flashpoint is always outside the Estuary pub where Rovers fans are smoking and vaping outside, so surely diverting the Pars fans away from there reduces the chances of trouble.

To be fair pre match The Estuary had the shutters down and front door locked with entry via the back only.

There were significant numbers of really young Raith fans hanging out in the street drinking. They looked like they were waiting for the pars fans coming along.

Would have previously happily got the train down to the game and had a few beers along the high St, then to the Estuary before a derby.  Did that as recently as the 3-0 cup game in 2019.

Not a chance I'd do that now, Links St is a shit show before and after any big game now it seems.

The biggest factor is probably social media and anonymous stupidity that goes with it. It's far too easy to organise these things on crap like Snapchat or Twitter/X without any consequences. People recording it and hoping for engagement out of it with again no repercussions of any note.

Policing and stewarding is also becoming much more passive, having the kids pat themselves down on the way in to check for pyro is the most nonsensical thing, even though there are valid reasons for stewards to not manhandle children.

Clubs probably need to take more responsibility to identify these people both at the time and after the fact, there is CCTV, every ticket has an associated person and seat so finding them won't be difficult.

Ultra's pages happily posting fights certainly don't help.  the CCTV point only helps if everyone sits in their allocated seats, barely any of guys do, and those that do let of smoke bombs etc are often central in their section making it hard for police/stewards to get to them.

I'll usually walk to the ground and I've always found it's just easier to go along the prom if you're coming from the High Street side. I'd not even chance going up Milton Road or Links Street - it's far easier to avoid that area just sticking to the front road.

I'm the same. I live in Kirkcaldy and would always head down town to meet for a few beers beforehand and after, win lose or draw. Can't remember the last time I did that for a derby game. I don't bother heading to Falkirk either. Too many fannies looking for trouble.

I just went through in the in the car yesterday with a couple of mates, parked at the other side of Beveridge Park for easy exit. Was speaking to someone in the ground who’d been out in Kirkcaldy beforehand and said the trouble was as bad as it’s been for a good while. It’s always been there but yesterday was apparently very bad.

As a Pars fan you’ll leave whatever pub you’re in and get to that corner where the Dutchess is and there’ll be several police vans, cars etc and you think nothing will happen, the police are on top of it today. Then you walk two hundred yards up Pratt St to Estuary and it kicks off. If they just closed off that road for visiting fans and punted them up a different road they’d have a relatively trouble free afternoon.

It seems more younger guys that are the bother these days. I remember my first Rovers away game was the 1-2 game in November 2009, Craig Wilson scoring a last minute OG winner for the Pars. It kicked off between the Pennyfarthing and Starks, it was chaos easy 30 on 30 with police in the mix too, but from memory it was all men, guys in their mid 20’s up to 40’s. Now it’s teenagers, heavy puffing on hubba bubba vapes, not really aware of the consequences.

Our support has grown this season as has the amount of knobs. Something I think we’ll just have to accept. Every team has them these days.

I'm maybe on the generous side... and perhsps people will view a singing section as rewarding bad behaviour.

My view is that you establish dialouge and set certain boundaries with the main faces. I do get that this has varied success, and the YT will have the club saying one thing and then also have the influence of social media showing other Ultra groups running amok letting off pyro etc... so you might engage as a club and be left disappointed as behaviour isn't perfect.

You also have the issue that the YT that follow us home and away are bolstered in numbers for the pars games, the hangers on are less invested in the club and less likely to tone things down.

At least with a dedicated section... large enough for them, you have one person per seat and you aren't having a guy who's brought the kids along having to worry about drunk teens falling over his family.

TLDR... if you've had a pre match key of ket stay away from kids eating popcorn.

And this

Agree but I think the club could do better with that. They tried the railway stand but it was never going to work being at the opposite end of the stadium.

I think having a dedicated section for them will help police them better, it's something dunfermline have done very well with the section north West group. Our problem with that is that the perfect place to put them is just not available.

Christina is a fairly well known fan. She had her jacket burned by pyro at east end. Pyro hitting a guy in the back who had literally just sat down with his kid before ko even happened yesterday. Moving them to the front of the stand doesn't work. I witnessed something being thrown by one of them at Walton at Tannadice while I was amongst them. They clearly aren't policing themselves. Someone is going to end up with an injury with it all and I genuinely don't think they are actually adding an atmosphere anymore.

Yep,Dunfermline are fortunate they have an area to house their singing section but it still hasn,t stopped them throwing pyros and other objects on to the pitch

Totally agree that would avoid the flashpoint as it’s always at the estuary and your right brings them out nearer the away end , in days gone by the pars never had a pub on the high street , we always had the Elizabethan but it was at the right side of east end for us. Wouldn’t solve all the hassle but pretty sure it would help a lot, sick of seeing little green street wannabes wandering around being the big men

Just on that, I think after what happened at the derby at New Year, the club reached out to some of the older guys who started SNW and had a word as they’ve been well behaved since. Even on Tuesday at home to Airdrie, the section was packed out, Airdrie players were doing their upmost to wind up the home end and that section and their behaviour was really good I have to say, nothing thrown, still singing but no nonsense. Hopefully that continues and hopefully you lot can get a permanent fixture for a section. The railway stand would be handy in the future.

Had to laugh at the stadium announcer coming on yesterday and just saying “please don’t be idiots, throwing flares on the park” 🤣

Fair enough although my comment was solely based on the derby games

Think the issue we have is no designated area for a singing section, also get the impression the YT is pretty unorganised….The club are trying there best but trialling it for one game then not again till a bigger game comes along isn,t going to work so mean time the YT are basically clambering for whatever seats are available that are not already taken by season ticket holders  Without doubt the ideal place is the section of the Railway Stand closest to the South Stand but thats delapidated and not going to be worked on anytime soon

I did chuckle at the stadium announcer 😁

Aye? My first derby was in 2009 and I remember drinking in the Penny Farthing/The Abbey, there's also been Pars fans along the high street.

Ended up going to Montagues pre and post match and it was absolutely fine and trouble free, mixture of Pars and Raith fans.

Because it’s generally the quickest way to get to the ground if you’re down the High Street beforehand, and for 16 home games out of 18 doesn’t have any bother whatsoever.

We usually walk along the Links, but last few games we’ve walked up and along Milton Road from the high street. Apart from coming back on yourself it roughly takes the same amount of time as it does walking along Links Street. Plus it’s a much more pleasant walk on the eye. 🤣
