I hate the old firm.

I hate seing our rivals (Falkirk and to a much lesser extent, Raith) do well. I can respect Falkirk fans, if they'd been born twenty miles east they might have been Pars fans, they are just guys following a fellow middling Scottish football club because it's where they're from or it's who they're Dad supported, I'll have far more in common with a Falkirk fan than an Old Firm fan, however...

When Dunfermline played Celtic in the three national Cup finals between 04-07 who did you support? Maybe I'm just petty, but despite me despising everything about Rangers I was still happier when they beat you in one.

The drama I've got is that if Falkirk, or Raith for example win a national title they'd quite rightly use it as a "Get it up ye" point against Dunfermline, you beat them in a derby game the retort can be "Aye, but I've seen my team win the Scottish cup" that's game set and match eh?

Whereas if the old firm beat Falkirk in a final it's just another day for them.

Again, it might just be me being petty, but it's how I see it.

Edit - I've just seen I've used the word hate a few times there, that's more than just a bit excessive.

I'll tell you right now, hand on heart, that I wanted DA to win those games.

You're a much better man than me Ranaldo, fair play.

Genuine respect to everybody admitting that they dislike one half of the Old Firm more than the other, especially the Kilmarnock fans hating Rangers more. It takes courage and I respect it.

I have quite a fondness for Dundee United. I think it's cute the way they let wimmin knit at games. The way they buy garish tangerine clothing in every make imaginable but it kind of soured when they racially abused their own player and glorified rape.

It's like Hollyhocks. Especially this past week when they were knocking seven shades of shite out one another during the game.

Rangers fans are usually obese, bald and angry. I'd take that anyway over the scrawny, ginger and smelly typical Celtic fan though.

There is a clear difference since liquidation. I hate Celtic, but I don't question their right to exist.

Rangers belong in the deepest pit in Hell.

I've been trying to explain my thinking behind hating United as much as the OF since it was asked by @Monkey Tennis earlier.

The OF is easy, and I don't need to go into much detail, it has been written by every poster on her countless times.

But why I hate United as much, after my full day of debating with myself, all I have is, 'f**k Dundee United'.

And that's enough for me, I can sleep easy now.

Shocking HobNob it was only just over a week since I was cheering the Pars on

I'll be cheering you on when you play Airdrie 🤝

Fwiw Championship/league one titles don't particularly bother me, it's something that I've seen Dunfermline win, that we'll probably win again at some point, likewise it's only a matter of time for Falkirk to win the championship again. I also supported Raith against Rangers in the challenge Cup final so I'm not totally full of bitterness.

Songs like "Boys of the Old Brigade" and "Grace" are from the 1922 war and the sentiment gets carried over to the modern day to "children ardent for some desperate glory" (to quote Wilfred Owen).

'That old lie' indeed.

I think the vast majority of Killie fans have a greater dislike of Rangers, despite what outsiders may perceive.

That's not to say we don't fucking hate Celtic, we do but there is far more niggle when we play Rangers and it it only got worse when we were leathering them when Clarke was boss (and continue to do so regularly).

Our game at Ibrox in January was probably the most hostile away end i've been in for years in Scotland. Was all sorts being chucked in our end (which then led to it being launched back by some, not by me i hasten to add!)

I hate them all. Including Aberdeen.

Especially Aberdeen. They are the team to have caused most of my pain following football.

Haha, i know that feeling. We still go back for more though!

I don't agree. Celtic are disagreeable for their victim mentality, mawkish and vomit-inducing sentimentality and their sheer hypocrisy. I don't buy that Celtic fans are bigots. They love their Irish roots and can, at times (imo) over identify with those (see the aforementioned victim addiction). They don't tend towards anything recognisable as bigotry though.

Rangers are the classic panto villain with little to no redeeming features. A raison d'etre which depends on hatred of catholics and an ardent British nationalism combined with all the things that make me dislike Celtic (the victim mentality, but whose mawkish sentimentality always felt to have more bellicose undertones).

Perhaps I'm biased as the entirety of my mum's side are Irish catholic and all my school pals growing up were Celtic supporters, but I just think it's too simple to say that they're as bad as each other.

Founding, establishing and supporting a football club which is based on propagating and promoting the tribal division between 'religious creeds' in the name of tradition is a vile thing. They ARE both as bad as each other.

I would imagine so. I've mellowed over the years and understand Hearts only had themselves to blame, but the hatred has been so ingrained for so long I think another decade before you reach the heights of meh.
