What Are You Drinking ?

Recommended Posts

I've been in a few different supermarkets this holiday and the choice of standard supermarket beer in France seems to have reduced to Kronenbourg (1664 or standard) or Heineken. You used to be able to get much more variation (I liked Biere 33 but it seems to have disappeared) - I guess the predominance of huge brewers affects here as much as anywhere.

You get a much better range in supermarkets of the non-standard lager style beers though and the standard draught beer in a bar (a pression) could be a Heineken, Leffe, Kronenbourg, Grimbergen or Paulaner (in the case of this campsite).

I only became aware of Grimbergen a few years ago but there range really seems to have grown - this Pale Ale is delicious, tastes like a mixture of a pale ale and a white beer.

Not drinking tonight, but for those who like Irish Cream drinks and chocolate, Aldi have brought out a limited edition Peanut Butter flavoured Ballycastle for 7.50. Think Baileys-rip-off mixed with Reese's Pieces. Bought two bottles yesterday. It will either be really great or really horrible.

In Newcastle for a few days and have stopped by Brewdog.

Neon Dream by Brewdog, a delightful fruited wheat beer.

Sprinkles With That Bab by Sommer, a really good milkshake IPA.

And Feed Us To The Sharks by Fallen Acorn, a really tasty Double IPA.

Sprinkles With That Bab pictured.

If you're still in Newcastle you might like to try Wobbly Duck in Eldon Sq. Always had a very good selection when I've been there.
