African Nations Cup - Cameroon 2021 (2022)
velo army replied to HibeeJibee's topic in Misc Other Fitba Chat
Caught the last 10 minutes of this first half. Cameroon look decent going forward but Egypt have had some decent stuff on the counter in the last few minutes. The Egyptians falling to the ground every so often has been poor. I've been a Cameroon fan since the 90 world cup. I hope they pump them. -

I can assure you that Celtic fans, of all ages and literacy levels will understand the word "genuflected". It's one of the first things you learn as a young Catholic (timling?) along with when to stand up, sit, kneel, shake hands and (thanks be to God) leave. -
The New Raith Rovers Thread

Did you just join in for the last couple of pages? As has been said before, Clyde fans have been getting it tight for ages for signing him. If you search "Beast FC" or somesuch the majority of hits will be for Clyde threads. Sturgeon won't have been asked about it or had her attention directed to it. She is, quite famously, not a fitba fan. Him signing for Raith is a national issue on which she has been asked to comment. What would you have had her say? -
I initially read that as you rating your looks as a solid 6 out of 7, and was a bawhair away from posting "wid" until I realised it was your fucking age .

I vividly remember a Glasgow club going to the wall only for their fans to club together and save them. Sci-Fi stuff, I know . The political stuff; I remember feeling the optimism of the Tory years ending, like the last days of an empire. It had been a long death, the papers running a series of Tory sleaze stories (mellor, Hamilton, Aitken etc). f**k knows what I was expecting (I was 14 too) but it felt like things would be different. I remember it being kind of a beginning of an end to the indie britpop era and the resumption of the factory pop band era of the late 80's.

Aye using the "took three chances to score a goal" is the take of someone who doesn't watch a lot of football. Most strikers will miss a few before scoring. He's been going great guns for us of late and has been on scoring form recently for his club. I sense some trolling is afoot.

Arbroath vs Thistle - Tuesday March 1st 2022

Aye? That's wild. I just put 2 and 2 together and thought he'd yelled some awfulness at the big striker. Weird. -

I thought he was about 15. What is he supposed to have done? The way the Arbroath fan in here was banging on about our "behaviour" I thought we'd decided to bin the cuddly moniker for good by going full section b. Just googled it. Aye that's pretty bad. Hopefully big Nouble didn't hear any of it. -

What's The Worst Pain You Have Ever Experienced?
velo army replied to Dee Man's topic in The General Nonsense Forum
Absolutely fucking hating every single one of the kidney stone posts. Would probably just chop my cock off and bleed out than go through that. Anyway. Jumping out of a window and landing on my arse, fracturing three vertebrae is by far and away the worst pain for me. My right collar bone fracture is a close second, especially when I went into the shower after it happened and I slipped......putting my right hand out to stop myself falling. First time I've cried from pain in years. -

"from the in-crowd you fastidiously cultivate." Nah, the thing being cultivated is membership, not the group itself. Cultivate was maybe even the wrong word, especially if he's saying that Tynie wants to be a member. If he's independently growing the membership then aye, he's cultivating it, but given that he was accusing him of populism and not altruism, that wouldn't be right. "That should appeal to the in-crowd, whose invitation you covet". I really need to go to bed . -

Gutted to be missing this (feyther too ill to come up so I'll head down n we'll watch the stream). What butcher supplies your pies? Might try and grab a couple on the way down to mimic the experience. Anyway, about time we put these pretenders to the sword. 2-1 to the cuddlies. -

Nice excuse to nip into the marvellous Gordon St Coffee placey for 20mins or so. Lovely coffee (and a roll and square) in there too.

Started to watch that thinking it was highlights, but you've posted the whole thing . East End looks tremendous though. I don't recall exactly what happened with Wim in the end. He was working under "General Manager" Jock Brown (ex commentator, but no clue what qualified him for the gig) and in the close season it fell apart and he left. It was odd and quite anti climactic. You guys ended up with Dr Jo, John Barnes and then Martin O'Neill but it seemed like the breaking down of the relationship with Wim Jansen cost Celtic about three years. -
Fairly sure @SlipperyP is some sort of performance artist, and his appearances on p&b are akin to yon time Joaquin Phoenix was interviewed about his rap career. There was a young lad (14) who went missing a year or so ago from the west end of Aberdeen. Afaik he hasn't been found despite a fairly robust search. I can't imagine what his family must still be going through. Imagine having to just carry on with your life knowing only that your wee boy is missing, but not knowing anything more. +1 for the psychics are wretched vote here. I went to the spiritualist church a couple of times (work reasons) and I was quietly seething/cringing listening to the "readings". Fair enough if you buy into it and it gives you comfort, but i found it perplexingly cynical.

Petty Things That Get On Your Nerves...
velo army replied to well fan for life's topic in The General Nonsense Forum
Inspired by Empty It using the phrase "acting the goat" on the People You Dislike thread gladdened my heart, but also brought up a wee pttgomn. The gradual dying of Scottish idiomatic speech due to the increasing hegemony of Americanisms and superfluous swearing. I used to work with a bunch of late teens and early 20-somethings who would look at me like I was a museum exhibit, or some kind of genius for using phrases I just thought were de rigeur for the situation. I imagine it isn't just a Scottish thing, and that there are Irish, English and French da's having cranial detachments (day-tachemong for Les péres des France) over this. -
As an auld guy real ale fan, this sounds class. I'm from very close to there too, so it ticks a few boxes. Cheers lad.

African Nations Cup - Cameroon 2021 (2022)
velo army replied to HibeeJibee's topic in Misc Other Fitba Chat
The rules say that the game has to go ahead if they have 11 fit players. That's a ridiculous rule considering the game could last two hours. Comoros might just need to go all out and attack, so you never know. Cricket score most likely though. -

Also, in a world of fairy bland, cookie-cutter managers, having the chance to work under Milhajlovic, who was utterly mental as a player and whose life in general has been eventful, is a stimulating opportunity. -
I wasn't aware of the one in Serbia so the one there is no doubt independent of Carrie et al.
