Very surprised Grant Johnstone has joined us but very pleased. He's a full time lawyer and part timer tutor at Dundee University (or at least he was!) so would presume he'll only be with us part time.

As for Clarkson I had a few Dundee mates who were delighted he left them. He had that good run mud season when he joined them but latterly was apparently very poor. Having said that I reckon he'd definitely do a job at this level.

I blame the parents, the kids get impatient waiting for Christmas and then they fall into the trap of letting them open a present early and then another and then......................

.........you can guess the rest.

It'll be that 24/7 news environment that's to blame. The '90s were a simpler time.

19 players in the squad so far with more to come is pretty good considering the squads in recent years.

Also getting most of the business sorted out before pre season is good. Mckinnon hasn't hung around which shows a man with a plan.

Including the reserve team.

As it stands we've lost 6 first team squad members (7 if you include long term crock, Elliot), as well as our long term loanee, McKay.

We've brought in two new guys so far. Still a bit of work to be done.

Maybe we're going to actually play some more of our homegrown players and make them part of the squad.

Will some more of outlet youngsters become first team regulars?

Think that's the bonus with Callachan & Vaughan at the minute, they've both proved they are good enough to be first team, so that's 2 first team players we don't have to go sign ...

Who knows, Matthews looked good on his debt, another year or so under his belt he could be added as another first teamer, got Bates in there to ...

This is why it baffles me why its taking so long to bring some youth through, obviously we will probably have a low output of players who can actually play for the first team, but it saves us money (larger contracts for more "known" guys), it could make us money (selling them on) and its additional players for our squad meaning less running around looking for new ones each season ... Win win all round, lets hope it continues for many seasons to come :)
