Not saying I want it but realistically can’t see us being an attractive proposition to investors or sim is sowing the seeds for further budget cuts/ambition of fans getting a reality check and then we may go part time in next 2 years

He's not even sowing the seeds, he's pretty much outright saying it.  The whole article is that the choice is to either scale everything back so we break even, or find somebody who's prepared to fire money into the club.

Only if we get out of Starks. Can't imagine fan ownership could bring in enough money to deal with even a competitive part time team and our decrepit stadium.

Not convinced by fan ownership. Morton doing well in the short term but possibly benefiting from a very good manager pulling his team up. Stirling went full fan ownership and sunk down to L2. Hearts looks like fan ownership in name only, backed by Budge and now Anderson.

Thing is, while Morton have undeniably struck it lucky with the first managerial appointment under fan ownership being our best manager in decades who has so far managed to overcome the constraints of his budget at a club who also have significant stadium overheads, what's the alternative?

Even if Raith changing hands to another private owner now doesn't lead to an Angelo Massone or dare I say it Colin McGowan type shyster stepping in, if a break even budget is impossible and therefore the plan is simply for a private owner to underwrite losses for however long it takes them to get too old or disinterested to continue then you'll be finding yourselves in the same place again down the line, whether that be in 5, 10 or 20 years time.

At some point there isn't going to be a white knight to save you, and if it has to happen eventually you'd rather be transitioning to fan ownership from the relative stability of low levels of debt in the Championship than from the ashes of administration at a lower level.

More chance of Jim Leishman getting involved.

Would that not be the whole controversial board gone? She might see it as a fresh start?

Or a combo of Val, Gordon Brown and our very own Shaughan McGuigan?

Surely this is what we should be doing regardless. Living within our means. Madness that as a business, we're not.

There's no reason why Raith can't be a stable club under fan ownership. It might not always be a Championship club but that's not the purpose of the exercise.

The Stockholm Syndrome of begging some other clown to come in and write IOUs every year while asset stripping the place is understandable but still completely incorrect. We were fortunate to turf out our daft owners before they could actually flip all of the land into their own hands - and were most fortunate that they were willing to take that L, so long as they got out of the place without losing any more money.

Personally I think a 50-50 model between a fans' group and local investors is the best setup in principle, which I think will sooner or later come to pass at Morton too.

Can’t imagine she’d be particularly keen on lining John Sim’s pockets…

Thought your Dean Park Hotel man was loaded? He not the obvious candidate?

Sold his care home business for £30m, bought the Dean Park and started sinking money into it. Later became a Director of the club.

I don't think he is interested tbh. Feels like he'd have gone for it by now as he is the ideal candidate and already has his foot in the door.

I'm not sure he will really be looking for too much in return for the club.

What worries me more is the structure of everything. Theres clearly a fairly significant level of debt involved but most of it is against the club rather than spp iirc. Is he looking to sell both the club and spp or?

The business model of everything has been confusing for a long time despite moves being made to make it easier to work with/ understand in recent years.

Just in case you weren't joking, don't want Gordon Brown anywhere near our club.
