Totally with you here. I choose cheese slices for a burger because IMO its the best thing for the job.

Corr….er, found out that the sharper the cheddar the less well it melts too. Probably why that crap called American cheese slices is so popular for that job, “processed cheese food”.

Sugar_Army
Prefer a cooked/caramelised onion than raw and my cheese melted too...I prefer mayo on it than ketchup...yep I said it, I have outed myself. I once had lunch on campus at University of Florida with a with an old professor who asked for a double amount of blue cheese on his burger then smothered it in ketchup. I then had to watch but say nothing while he bit into it and cause it to smear all over his face and drip through his fingers covering everything below. I doubt "mate yer gein' iz the fecking boak" would have translated well. But cream? Used to think SD was a braw poster but now I have concluded yer one fir the watchin" Edited July 13, 2023 by Sugar_Army
scottsdad
Scott is heading to a place in Falkirk tomorrow that makes a Nutella pizza. I will report back what he says.
tongue_tied_danny
My idea of cheeseburger heaven is a floury morning roll with butter, a beef patty and grated cheddar. No ketchup or sauce. Proper burger van fare.
DA Baracus
Burgers should never have sauce on them. Get the tomato to f**k as well. Gherkins shouldn't even be a consideration. Lettuce should be fresh and on the bottom, topped by the burger, cheese slice, onions and (optional) bacon.
die hard doonhamer
There is no one right way to do a burger, but putting mayo on it is definitely wrong. The 2 options I go to at home are either bottom of bun, burger, cheese, onions (fries then covered in bbq sauce in the pan), top of bun or bottom of bun, salsa, burger, jalapeños, cheese, top of bun. Could go a burger now

Cosmic Joe
Stick cooked burger with a slice of smoked cheese under grill for a few minutes. Serve on roll with thinly sliced gherkins and mayo/ sriracha relish. -

invergowrie arab
Burgers are massively overrated. If you are going to smother it in sauces, pickles, bacon, cheese and veg you would be as well just using lorne. You are being charged 15- 20 quid for a sandwich.
