The Falkirk FC Thread

This is really a stereotype/loose use of language.  Worst case scenarios are by definition almost always unviable and would see you just shut up shop.  In the real world you might draw up a range of scenarios which are sensitised and then settle on one which includes some pessimistic assumptions in relevant areas.  Then you will have some contingency planning built in.  You are looking for a realistic plan in difficult circumstances not something that tells you you are goosed from day one unless you wish to take a shut down option.

Jon Mitchell ? free agent. Could cover all positions in defense and a midfield option as well.

Not sure our only backup should be a boy with zero first team experience mind you. Would rather have more than one option if that's the case.

Heard theirs a clause if Keena gets relegated with you guys hes coming back to the Jam Tarts baby

We may not win the league this season but the chances of us ending up in league 2 are about the same as Ann Budge winning Miss World.

2nd wave

Don't think so. If the majority take reasonable precautions like face covering and hand washing etc, and localised outbreaks are stomped on, we'll be able to trundle along until a vaccine comes. Hoping that with proper procedures being followed by players and clubs routine testing won't be necessary without symptoms, maybe just temperature checks, and crowds will gradually be allowed in.

Close the pubs and it would dramatically reduce the risk of that happening!

Actually, the BBC reported today that scientific evidence coming out of hospital cases shows that there is no second wave although it can’t be ruled out.

More cases are coming to light due to more testing but, of those, very few are needing hospitalisation due to being younger and fitter.

Sorry to bring this up here but it was raised by another poster.

Agree, can I ask where you got your doctors licence from?

Got to start somewhere ! Roddy Manley - Brian Irvine - David Weir - Gary Smith come to mind.

None of them had durnan playing beside them.  Unfortunately for every weir there's a ceiran mckenna. We know nothing about mitchell. Has he improved or gone backwards?  Not got a problem signing these kind of players when you have a decent sized squad but our squad is going to be incredibly unbalanced with far too many central mids and not enough cover out wide or at the back.  If we hadn't wasted budget on telfer we couldve signed mitchell and another defender which would've given us more even cover.

Yes, and it looks like the SPFL/SFA are getting the boot into them already, just reading that Hull are training at their centre. What a fckn laughing stock Scottish football is,  especially when it wasn’t the SG or Leitch that made the decision to stop Hearts from training. As posted it’s only a time thing until someone breaks the rules or the 2nd wave arrives. Anyone else feel like we maybe should have shut the doors on this season and start (hopeful COVID-19 free or vaccine ready) next summer?

I think the SPFL/SFA are trying to deflect they said it was the SG that told them to stop pre season training though as mentioned Leitch has said that decision came from SPFL/SFA

Sloping shoulders to anyone bar the SPFL/SFA

I agree with this, a 2nd wave on the same scale as before is unlikely.  We have better access to testing and ability to isolate positive cases quicker than before.  As lockdown measures are loosened its inevitable that cases will rise slightly, but keeping these under control is key.

I expect lower leagues will go ahead and testing will only be in place where there are symptoms or there has been a recent case identified at a club.  No way every club will be testing twice a week and bubbles are impossible due to 2nd jobs.
