I fucking hated it. Actually I was going along with it for the most part until a scene at the start of the third act when Churchill uses the Tube to get to Parliament, at which I literally cringed my balls right off. (cinema) Agree about the tube scene, and it seemed to be too much about how well Gary Oldman could act in a blancmange suit and still get an Oscar for the studio. But there was the everyman tale that even a drunken idiot can get his day and save the world. Hope for us all.
tongue_tied_danny
Escape From Alcatraz Clint Eastwood plays his usual mean 'n' moody character in this prison escape flick. A great film. A solid 9/10.
supermik
I, Tonya. 7/10. A style of film that is probably not to everybody’s taste with all the talking to the cameras stuff. She did appear to have a shit life and her maw was a total harridan, and her hubby was a p***k. Having watched it though I do believe that she knew nothing about the attack to Kerrigan. Totally loved the very last words though.
Boostin' Kev
6 hours ago, Arch Stanton said: The Godfather Part II, have seen it many times before but just took a notion tonight to watch it again. I believe it's better than the original, the two timelines are engrossing and the way they both pan out is a joy to watch. De Niro's obsessive attention to detail, spending months in Sicily to learn, not just Italian, but the Sicilian dialect is impressive. He won the Oscar for BSA despite only uttering a few words in English. After watching it I realised I'd watched all 5 of John Cazale's films in the last few months (Godfather and Part II, The Conversation, Dog Day Afternoon and The Deer Hunter). That's quite an oeuvre as they are all tremendous films. They're all great films, haven't actually heard of John Cazale before will look him up later.
Mr. Brightside
3 of the 6 films he appeared in won the Academy Award for Best Picture, all 6 were nominated. Not bad.

He's not actually credited for appearing in The Godfather Part III as it was archive footage but yeah, that's an impressive stat.
jimmy boo
(19)The Post 4/10 This was weirdly hard to follow considering how much was spelt out to the audience in clunky expositional dialogue, and several characters and their roles could not be distinguished from each other. Ladlefuls of the usual Spielberg schmaltz too, although to be fair plenty of the expected solid camerawork. Bob Odenkirk and David Cross were excellent though, they should give those guys a TV show. (cinema) Watched this last night. A bit heavy going at times and didn't find it that interesting.5/10
Twinkle
Wonder 8/10 Lovely film about a boy with facial deformities who has to join middle school after being homeschooled from his mum (Julia Roberts). His battle trying to blend in with his classmates is both heartbreaking and uplifting. Can be a bit of a tear-jerker at times
MSU
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri -- I enjoyed it and it's perfectly acted but boy, that story really took a wild turn about halfway through. Sam Rockwell didn't get arrested. Really? The TV reporter might as well have been Alicia Silverstone out of Scooby Doo 2. And what was up with Woody's wife's accent? Why was she Australian? 6/10
Ira Gaines
Stunned that an Australian woman had an Australian accent tbh

Mackie The Staggie
The Darkest Hour - 4/10 (Cinema) Car was in for it's MOT & Service so took the opportunity to waste a few hours....sadly I wasted my money as well. Gary Oldman was great in this, as was Kirsten Scott Thomas (although not nearly enough imo) and Lily James, and it's the only reason I can give this a 4/10. It is wonderfully shot, but suffers from the issue that Zack Snyder suffers from, the imagery becomes more important than developing the story. There's a scene about halfway through where the commander of the garrison at Calais receives a telegram, not wanting to give any spoilers but it's not good news. As we follow the commander we see the great toil the battle has taken on the men as he wanders from the able bodied down to the injured and screaming, he then steps out side and reads the telegram, the camera then pans out as the commander just stands looking straight up to the sky looking at nothing in particular. That scene didn't need that last part which imo cheapens the impact of what was going on And as for that Tube Scene........... Christophe
(20) Early Man 7.5/10 Slight but naturally charming claymation from Aardman. Rob Brydon steals the show as both a messenger bird and Motson/Hansen analogues. Some really fun little touches. Enjoyed it a fair bit more than I expected to, never really enjoyed a feature length Aardman film before. (cinema) -
Christophe
(21) The Girl on the Train 5/10 2 hour TV movie thriller, held my attention, thinks its cleverer than it is but is at least a workaday whodidit with three babes in it. Christophe
(22) Downsizing 6/10 I was really looking forward to this, Payne is one of my favourite directors, and this was a really interesting concept but the whole thing was a bit too “Make you think”. Enjoyed it well enough though, several very funny bits. (cinema) -
GrahamJags
Roman J. Israel, Esq. - 8/10 (cinema) Loved this. Denzel Washington plays a solicitor with strong principles, whose firm goes under after the owner has a heart attack. He is outstanding, and is onscreen for 95% (if not more) of the film (think Jessica Chastain in Molly's Game levels of screen time) and is gripping throughout. No surprise that he got an Oscar nod for Best Actor, and it's a shame that he likely won't get it, in my opinion.
Ira Gaines
The Cloverfield Paradox ( Netflix ) It's just shit really. A bunch of nothing characters not worth giving a f**k about playing out a plot that's not really worth giving a f**k about. 1/10

Good idea for a film, was a bit disappointed with the outcome.
