I've watched the first 4 episodes of This Town on the iplayer.

Pretty decent.

Finished it last night.  I must admit i was a wee bit disappointed.  I live in the Midlands so there's been a fair bit of hype around it down here so that's maybe not helped.  I liked some aspects of it but felt it was a bit disjointed at times.   Great soundtrack though....especially hearing the Electric Prunes and Suicide.

Bridge of Lies the latest for this but most quiz shows, particularly BBC ones. When given options "Well I know it's not 'A', and I know it's not 'C' so I'm going to go with 'B'" or even worse "I know it's not 'A' or 'B' but I know 'C' is correct". Just fucking step on/tell us the fucking answer then! We don't need to hear your thought process out loud.

I assume the arsehole producers encourage this pish to draw out time. Absolutely infuriating though.

Eggheads was bad for this.

And Pat was the worst Egghead for it.

I did love Eggheads though. I used to think, I fancy myself against Kevin on sport, then remembered they usually had one question on US sport. 😠

Just watched the whole thing, hadn't seen it for years - it's every bit as good as I remembered. Eric Morecambe's applause at the end shows, I think, how good he thought Previn was.

My Dad was a big M&W fan and watching it again I could picture him laughing. A nice memory.

Race Across the World back on BBC1 just now @The Naitch and anyone else interested

Delighted it’s back.

Early signs are that they’ve chosen the pairs well. Potential meltdowns for all apart from the older couple who are just on a jolly and loving it.

Prediction that the old couple get to Vietnam and decide that will do them and the mother and daughter are stranded at the side of the road having ran out of money

There is no way that mother and daughter are getting close to the end - didn't they manage to burn through nearly a third of their budget in the first episode? And there's a good chance the boy training to be a pilot will throttle his mate before long.

Having said that, I thought after the first episode last year that one pair were useless because it take them so long to get out of the park they started from and they ended up winning 🤣

Switched on "Traces" which is on BBC i-player. It's  a Dundee set forensic drama from Val McDermid and stars Laura Fraser. I don't know whether it's the budget, the acting, my internalised Scottish cringe or all three, but every time I watch a Scottish production it just looks cheap. I've never been that into Laura Fraser as an actress as she tends to make Blythe Duff look like Meryl Streep, and she is every bit as wooden here.

Fraser stars as a Professor of Forensics and the head of SIFA (Scottish Institute of Forensic Science and Anatomy.......so SIFSA, Shirley!!....never mind) and recently hired a new lab tech who has history with Dundee and used to live there (but has moved from Manchester to work there). It turns out that the dummy case she is asked to work on replicates her mother's murder from years ago. It's a really good plot idea, and I would normally be right into pursuing it......but the acting is rubbish as is the script. There's a couple of bits where my suspension of disbelief was massively tested. First of all it seems that Fraser's entire department is staffed by women, which I'm sure is laudable if the aim of a show is to indulge in alternative realities, but after watching several movies and series where the "diversity" of the cast was more important than creating a believable world and engaging story I couldn't help but feeling this was some kind of cathartic fantasy from McDermid. It took me out of the story a bit as it didn't feel like a real work place. The one guy in the office was such a cartoonishly effete gay guy too that it rendered the whole place a bit ridiculous. Oh, and the script sounded like it was written by a 10 year old.

Dundee looks great though, and there was a cool moment at the beginning where the lassie was driving across the Tay Bridge and there was a John Barry-esque soundtrack playing. I liked that a lot.

I don't see how that would work. There would be no dental records and all the DNA would be the same...

On Saturday Kitchen Mel B behaving like a spoilt brat because the viewers voted for Hell.

Making vomit noises and pulling faces like she just eaten a jobby sandwich.

I doubt she'll be invited back.

I've recorded it for the Adam Richman bits.
