DUNDEE UNITED could fight Inverness administrator James Stephen’s attempts to kick out goalie Jack Newman.

The 22-year-old keeper is on loan with the Highland club but was one of the five players axed by BDO earlier today

Newman, who left the Caley Stadium with his belongings this morning following hearing the news in a staff meeting, was expected to now return to Tannadice.

But United chiefs are unhappy at the treatment of their player, who will now be left in limbo for months.

United have contacted the SPFL and SFA to ask for clarity on his registration and query how the administrator is able to kick out someone who isn’t Caley staff.

They sent him to Caley as part of his career development but he faces the prospect of being frozen out of football.

Stephen’s decision to boot him outside a transfer window means he’s technically unable to play for anyone else until January 1.

Boss Jim Goodwin wants Newman playing games between now and the new year window, so if Caley are adamant he has to go, both clubs could appeal for special dispensation to free his registration up.

The SFA could override their normal rules due to exceptional circumstances and let him sign for someone else, but as things stand the keeper faces an uncertain few months.

We need @Skyline Drifter's take on this.

It wouldn't surprise me tbh.  We probably just matched what Celtic B were paying him in the LL.

That's what pisses me off.  Aren't clubs who spunk wages on players and managers they can't afford meant to be good?

All went on shite CEOs, shite managers and Directors of Football. Not to mention what was probably a bumper deal for our 12th of July away strip.

Bet yeah, we've blown the budget and got progressively worse every season.

Sorry lads, it would really help us out. You did get Welsh, Macgregor and Ujdur out of us though, so taking Luis would be much appreciated

Sorry, seems he hasn't been released ......... shame 🤥

It's of no use now in looking back, as far as I can see by the club website the administrators have been kind so far, so best to make do with what we have and think positively.

The weekend game will be a big test for the lads and if all goes well with a result....................................................................................

I mean at this point it’s basically just Exiled - who tries to wind up all the Arbroath fans too so…

On the player front. I thought it would be far worse. Surprised Charlie Gilmour and Remi Savage still there to be honest

Just bottom of the table pumped 10-0 every weekend Midlands League standard trolling, not even close to even being as funny as Donny 'lichtie4life' or any of his many multi alias' guises.

Think @Fraz already posted but just in case any missed it TWS chaps have a new pod out packed full of admin chat because that's what we're all about these days! Have a listen!

Well worth a listen.👍

I particularly enjoyed the story from the heads groundsman about his run in with Gardiner at the staff meeting.

Sounds like he was disliked by many  staff at various levels and departments at the club - he'll not be missed.

Onwards and upwards!

All the club staff have been retained, for the moment.  Might be some reduction in hours.

That's really good to hear. Hopefully that stays the same.

Good to hear that the administrators expect the process to take weeks rather than months. Hopefully we're out by the new year. Reports of the death of The Caley have been greatly exaggerated.
