Decent weather and pitches, everyone well up for new season, light nights, get ahead of the game. Even with washout last few months, still on track to finish on time. Yes a few teams , including EK playing catch up last few weeks, but that is unusual. Highland League can speak for themselves, everyone knows when the finishing line is.

Everyone does, but here we are. We know the climate is only getting wetter so it's going to affect the leagues more and more. Just think 20th April is too early to be finishing.
ekok
The other big issue is being ready to play team 42, need two clear weeks before SPFL end date, then a week after that. In an ideal world those games would not exist, so 2/ 3 weeks right there. The problem is the more The Spartans etc flourish, the further away that becomes. Probably common ground there.

Redcar
We shouldn't schedule any league or Scottish cup games midweek. There are 40 Saturdays between 27 July and the end of April '25. Berwick played at least 4 league games midweek before the leaves fell off the trees, and have had several free Saturdays recently. After filling up those free weeks where possible, use midweek for minor cups, replays and postponements. Cramming in games early leads to injuries and does nothing for cash flow.

The amount of early midweeks is a real bug bear by the end of September we had played 17 league and cup games.

Depends on the SPFL2 Play-off. Club 42 will be a Lowland area team. If the Highland champion wins promotion, two clubs are relegated from the Lowland League to make room.

You can't beat a wee jaunt down the tractor road. Unless you go real rural and come down the coast road.

Cowdenbeath had 8 scheduled Lowland League midweek fixtures this season, even before postponements kicked in. I assume other teams would have similar. League games should be played on Saturdays and punt all these cup games into midweek.

Tranent have played 53 games during this season with two more remaining next two Saturdays. Split on completion will be 35 on a Saturday, 2 on a Sunday and 18 midweek fixtures. The last few months have been crazy for the players.

GordonS
2 hours ago, Cowden Cowboy said: No it wouldn’t as 30 league games is not much of a league season FWIW, 30 league games is standard in the EoS and WoS and is the SFA's preferred size for non-league. The LL had 16 members from 2015-16 until the B teams were added in 2021-22, though they ran with one extra in 2020-21 because the didn't want to relegate anyone in the Covid season.
