Chilli D (Saints) vs Mika B (Sinners) - Sat 16th Dec 2023

Recommended Posts

The sort of game you don't know whether to be satisfied with a hard fought point away from home or pissed off because of the sitter that Spittal missed when we had a chance to get an actual win. Draw feels like a fair result given the way it panned out but in our circumstances, it's not much use.

I thought we coped with the shite conditions marginally better as St Mirren were a long way below the levels from the last times we played this season. We obviously set up to keep things tight and Mika looked pretty isolated during that garbage first half - we never managed to isolate him against Gogic, which was disappointing.

2nd half, we were slightly the better team I think - the chances we created were good but O'Hara's penalty was obviously a massive let off. Talking of O'Hara, I said at the game that he is much more resembling the Motherwell version that none of us were fussed about losing rather than the outstanding version from last season.

I've got a feeling that we'll look back on this as a missed opportunity as Rangers and Aberdeen aren't likely to be yielding the win we need.

In a nothing first half I thought St Mirren just edged it, we looked very unlikely to score.  In the second half St Mirren maintained their level and we upped ours.  If Wilkinson had been on he would have scored a hat trick.  (Assuming all our 1 on 1s fell to him).

Across the game a draw was the right result, but we should have won.

Haven’t seen the penalty hand ball again, not suggesting it wasn’t a penalty but the guy has arms they have to be somewhere while he slides on the ground,  A Celtic player can avoid a penalty if he is breaking his fall but what are you meant to do during a slide tackle?

Let’s not get carried away, if we score that penalty we win the game.

We could still be playing now and The Well wouldn’t have scored.

And the reason they get those chances post penalty is because we are pushing the defensive line for the winner. If the penalty goes in we are much deeper and they don’t get any of them.
Huge chance of three points not taken by the captain.

Both supports have wee Fannie’s that they are embarrassed by, the sooner they grow up or F off the better.

As for the game, all ‘wells chances came from our mistakes and we huffed and puffed all game, glad we have the points on the board already and can’t really see ‘well causing too many teams any problems.

We will sink….. but not to their depths.

What an utter pile of shite. We only got the chances because St Mirren were peak Real Madrid. Thank Christ we did not concede 6 goals at the point you were overwhelming us with your slick attacking football. At one point I thought the team in black and white were Juventus they were that good. We have scored 20 goals to your 21.

Face facts. Motherwell merited a draw today. Could have had a winner if we had been more clinical.

St Mirren are having a decent season. They are a better team than Motherwell at the moment. But by the law of averages that is going to happen once every 20 years.

FML, fannies with pyros..! Get in the sea with you.

Pretty sure the last time Motherwell came to ours there was a flare thrown.

Yesterday, there must have been 10 or 12 of them set off at the same time.

Will we be open to SFA sanction for not searching the arsehole fraternity allowing them in, or will this all be on Motherwell?

Is this an occurring thing with Motherwell or is it saved for their trips to Paisley?

This isn't acceptable.

All time top league points table. Do keep up. Although that may be quite difficult as the Buddies are a whole 1000 points behind Motherwell.

A 1000 points…………..not to mention the goal difference (in significantly less games) 😳🤦‍♂️😂😂

Any chance you could point out where @AussieBud said you didn’t have a better overall record than us?

I only saw the bit where he was correcting your bollocks that it was only one year in every twenty.

Honking game. Second half we seemed surprised to understand the wind was strong... How many times did Hemming or others just boot it straight out for a goal kick. To be fair his saves were excellent. Disappointed not to score after missing the penalty, relieved to get a draw after the chances Motherwell had.

No idea what our defensive line was about 2nd half or the subs. Small for McMenamin, because that's worked well before... Kiltie who I thought was playing well for Greive which didn't seem to work. Not sure that game was one for Mandron either. O'Hara is definitely struggling for form in the last few games and had a poor one today even excluding the penalty miss. Baccus was good for us and got the ball down well though he fell out of it when the subs changed the shape.

Clearly a missed opportunity for Motherwell, no other team (well apart from us) would spurn so many chances at the end. Biereth is a good player even if he was isolated for long spells. I'm not sure how effective the high press was, they were much better sitting deep and countering. Slattery must have been playing on sheet ice to be rolling on the ground that often 🤣

Got off the train at St James yesterday and thought this match is going to be a lottery with the wind . It was a tight game though Motherwell should have went home with all three points. Twice Motherwell went through with just the goal keeper to beat. So a point from a St Mirren point of view is a bonus.  On the way home had an hour in the Station Bar Wemyss Bay before catching the ferry. The Rothesay Celtic supporters were in there they their gloom fairly cheered me up nice end to the day : - )

Would have been interesting to see what that would have been like if you’re been relegated those times you finished in the relegation zone.

You may have come straight back up, but even a few years in the lower division would have had consequences other than top level points.
