What, if anything, other than cheese and ham, could I stick in a toastie maker?

Smoked turkey, cheese, tomato, avocado and hot paprika or cayenne pepper or if can’t be arsed with too many ingredients open a tin of baked beans make a baked bean toastie.

The obvious answer, as it's you, is a body part which gets singed ensuring another visit to casualty.

Helpful answer: we used to make jam toasties, although you burnt your mouth on them, cheese and mustard wasn't too bad and I think we even made corned beef and pickle.

Just go into a caff and copy down their toastie fillings- bacon and brie etc.

Tried googling it and the first thing was “smoked eel”.

A large catering pack of sliced pepperoni once fell off the back of a van and ended up in my flat. We had pepperoni and cheese toasties for a month. Recommended.

Also banana and nutella if you have a sweet tooth. Left over bolognese or chilli are also winners.

Your hand, probably.

Listened to this programmed the other day. But beyond my mental capacity tbh but the gist of it was that life on earth started from some stuff spewed out of an underwater trench long, long ago. The same rusty stuff is still inside us.. then there’s some sort of link two two types of DNA and the better ones end up in A&E twice as often as the lesser folk but are ultimately more resilient with greater longevity.

Anyway, thought we are all made of star dust or some other shite?

The Patched-Up Shandons............ good name for a band..........

They'd probably get electrocuted plugging in the Amps at their first gig.
