distresseduke
I quite liked yogi but his football can be eye-bleedingly one dimesional..he couldnt spot a no nonscence centre half if his life depended on it despite him being one himself. he loves a midget midfielder as well so good news for any of them...his falkirk teams overplayed at times without any real punch...although his best teams (stokes & gow influenced) had that killer instict
Zing.
He was good for us until asked to sign players. Absolutely useless in the transfer market. That being said he won't be asked to take care of that for Raith if it's only till the end of the season. He had us on fire in his first 5/6 months but that could well have been down to us having a half decent squad with Stokes, Riordan and Zemmama all on top form. Once it started going wrong he couldn't turn it round. Edited February 10, 2017 by Zing.

I'd guess if Hughes stays on beyond the end of the season he might make a move for Rice. In fact we could well end up being in the same league season depending on how things pan out. If we are Rice may well fancy going back to working under Hughes. 8 minutes ago, distresseduke said: I quite liked yogi but his football can be eye-bleedingly one dimesional..he couldnt spot a no nonscence centre half if his life depended on it despite him being one himself. he loves a midget midfielder as well so good news for any of them...his falkirk teams overplayed at times without any real punch...although his best teams (stokes & gow influenced) had that killer instict 7 minutes ago, Zing. said: He was good for us until asked to sign players. Dunning1874
Seems a sensible enough appointment. Has a track record of competence which makes him far better than Locke, and if it does go wrong and you do still end up relegated he's on a short-term deal which means no compensation for letting him go, which wouldn't have been the case if you'd gone for Young or Aitken. Managers who dogmatically insist on a 'philosophy' of how football should be played can go horribly wrong taking over a relegation battling team mid-season though: insisting on shite players passing it out of defence at all costs when they aren't capable of it can be disastrous. Still, while there are obvious weaknesses Raith's squad isn't nearly as bad as Locke's results suggest, so you'd think Hughes should be able to do enough to pull them clear of Ayr.
Stellaboz
Wasn't it Yogi that got his goalies constantly playing the ball short?
RR #1
Well chuffed if this is true. Maybe we can start looking forward to our Saturdays again now.
bridge of allan bairn
I liked yogi as falkirk manager. My only criticism was that he never seemed to put the right sub on at the right time when we needed to change the game.

Sounds like every manager we've ever had, maybe minus McKinnon to some degree. Prior to that you could set your watch for when a sub would be made and who it would be when Murray and McGlynn were in charge.

Ding Dang Doo
Every manager will have his critics. Even McKinnon had his last season for various reason and is getting them now at Utd. However Hughes has a track record and I feel far more confident this afternoon that we'll now be fine than I did at the weekend under Locke.
Rover the Moon
Did Hughes not get the likes of Schmeichel, Krul and Stokes to Falkirk? I know they're only loans but not a bad eye for talent.

If you think it was just him you're sadly mistaken. Don't get me wrong, he put in the hours but he won't be the same guy as back then.
RandomGuy.
Ooft, from one mumbleclown to another. He'll probably be alright for you until the end of the season, but it entirely depends on how your players cope with his style of play, as he seems to flat our refuse to try anything else.
CALDERON
Our immediate priority is safety and stability in this league, and I'm not sure who else out there is a better bet than Hughes. He wont be with us longer term, its about keeping us in this league - and him putting himself in the shop window for any top flight jobs.
