It did. We’re in the 4th minute of stoppage time with about 20 seconds left of the game. Just take what you’ve got and move on. We had our goal and clean sheet and that should have been that. However, when you have a 5 ft odd goalkeeper, a complete lump into the box becomes a nightmare and the keeper ends up getting bullied. Watching it back it’s in the air for ages so it gives him time to get momentum in his jump and he still doesn’t get up high enough to get a decent punch on it.

Okay, we could alternatively blame Lang for a terrible clearance just before that gave them possession unnecessarily. Or MacIver for missing god knows how many chances. Or Miller for putting in several poor balls.

Or we can accept that we succeed or fail as a team, not individuals. Bottom line is we don’t know - it was an off day and the players that didn’t play could’ve easily been worse.

One thing we all need to remember is every team in the league is now playing for something come the end of the season. Most games are going to mean something for each team. Getting points in the bag is far more important than scoring 3/4/5 goals each game.

Need to stick together and see this over the line.

Exactly. The Annan timewasting showed 0-0 suited them. Even losing 1-0 or 2-0 today would’ve been good damage limitation in a relegation fight for goal difference. As it happened 1-1  in the 94th minute may have been beyond their wildest, much like their Accies win. From our viewpoint, we need to grind out results and get to 80 points. As McGinn in his post match said, the ‘getting over the line’ is the hardest part of winning a title. In fairness, he talks from experience so let’s hope the players take heed of these warnings.

It should have been in Long’s favour simply because we all know how protected the keepers are. He should have came out and absolutely clattered that boy whilst getting a much harder bit of contact with the ball. It’s not the first time this has happened with him either. Edinburgh, Bonnyrigg and Dundee United come to mind.

It was a goalkeeping error end of story.

Not a great result today but in the context of our league position hardly the end of the world either.

A poor performance that lacked our trademark high tempo, precise play. We created a lot of chances but didn't really work their keeper enough. That has to improve over the next few games, starting Tuesday night.

As basically everyone has already pointed out Long just isn't good enough, he must have cost us at least 4 goals this season because he can't catch a cold and that's a really poor goal to lose right at the end of the game.

McGlynn has obviously made his mind up to do this rotation thing with the keepers but f**k knows why.

I actually think we hammered them in the first half without making it count obviously.

Second half much more sluggish but still comfortable until the nonsense at the end.

As you know not hugely impressed by either keeper but Hogarth didn’t deserve to be dropped and he is our player.

Play him to the end of the season (or until he has a horrendous game) and stop making unnecessary changes.

I don’t disagree but I personally don’t think there is much between the keepers. So whichever one you play you are going to get good and bad as you did today.

In the last embers of the game when the three points are in the bag played shite n yer goalie drops a clanger.. can't agree there. Sorry. Pair of safe hands see it out regardless. We shouldn't need to score three or four to win games although it's nice. We managed a one nil last week, it's all about results at this stage.

If we're signing loan players next season we absolutely have to make sure we never need to play them for any contractual reasons.

Long is absolutely fucking dreadful and is a clanger a week.

Lesson learned hopefully

Update on the stats post yesterdays results.

Based on  points per game to date this season (as opposed to more recent form) we will finish on 91 points (2.54 ppg) and Hamilton on 69 points (1.93 ppg). We are on 66 points now, so theoretically 3-4 more points and we are there. It will probably take more, especially if their result yesterday isn't a one off good day.

Still got a great chance of mathematically winning this in March, although it's possibly looking more like the Montrose away game now than the Edinburgh home game. As always depends on results the two sides have and these can be quite unpredictable as we saw yesterday.

Cove away on Tuesday another tricky one (esp with Fyvie back now). Phenomenal position to be in though.

It won't be contractual, if you have young a player out on loan who isn't getting any games at all you're going to recall him so McGlynn's obviously decided on this month each nonsense as he said to try keep them both happy.

Both keepers have mistakes in them but Long's had more howlers than Hogarth. Partick, Dundee United, Bonnyrigg and Annan. I can only think of the one away at Accies for Hogarth.

The howler from Long wouldn't have been an issue if we'd just stuck the ball in the b*****d net a few more times right enough.

Ross needs to take his chance on Tuesday, 21 appearances, 0 goals and 2 assists(last one was in October) albeit most of those appearances were off the bench. He's an exciting player to watch but he needs to sort out that end product.

There is f**k all between the goalies. Both are capable of making decent saves and both are prone to a clanger. It makes f**k all difference to our season which one plays.

Would agree that at a point in time there wasn't much in it, but recent form suggests otherwise. We have got away with the rotation (in the league) Telling a goalie that they will play 1 month and not the next is like something you would get on the Community Pitches next to the stadium. Can't think of any other instance of a professional team where you are pre selecting 1 position in your team regardless of form, opponents etc.

It's also very unfair on the young lads as well, as fans aren't getting to see them at their best due to not getting a proper run.

I'd say there's a slight difference.

Were you at Inverness in 2006? We were 2-0 up and then ICT put a high ball in on our keeper, Scott Higgins. He tried to punch it and got about five yards distance on it. Caley realised that was a weakness in his game and for the rest of the match they just lobbed high balls into our box from everywhere on the pitch, including our own half.

It worked. They beat us 3-2 and every goal was a carbon copy of that one we conceded yesterday. Higgins never played for the club again.

Every opponent we face will have seen yesterdays video by the time we play them. They'll all try the same thing. Including Cove on Tuesday night. If he deals with those balls confidently and plucks them out of the air it won't matter.
