They had hoped to budget for break even but as they had to guestimate the playing budget in October to give McGlynn and Smith the chance to extend player contracts this has caused the small deficit.
NavyBlueArmy1876
I reckon the Hearts game will plug that 5 figure deficit tbh. £25k prize money + £30k TV money (likely) + maybe another £25k share of the gate money after costs. Might not result in an extra player like we had hoped, but to achieve moving from the kind of losses we've been making for years to a break even situation (without having to rely on something as unlikely as getting to a Scottish Cup semi) cannot be understated Edited July 29 by NavyBlueArmy1876

We didn’t have that this season, and yeah, offering John a budget early to secure his Invincibles on longer contracts meant a bit of catch-up. The League Cup is helping that and we are still managing a 22% uplift (thus far), based on this season’s projections (I took that as being a mid-table placing), stretch commercial targets, player fund, FSS income etc. The Hearts draw might tip us back into the black, but beating them could make a real difference early in the season. All still hand to mouth, but such a contrast to a couple of years ago’s situation - the situations Jamie mentioned where fan investment through Patrons initially, then FSS and others basically kept the club going.
GMBairn
The podcast good again, excellent communication from Jamie on behalf of the club as usual. The progress we have made over the last few years has been tremendous, when you think of how precarious our position was to where we are now, with a fairly strong championship squad and all our bills basically covered for the year with any cup or other income being icing on the cake is amazing. I'd be happy with no other players coming in this year and us just banking any income for rainy day funds.

Beating Hertz and reaching the QFs would be a massive boost obviously. My take on his comments were getting out the groups gets us virtually to break even, with any extra money thereafter split between paying the running of the club and the players budget, of which the players budget is always prioritised in any scenario. Fascinating listening to Jamie and all the things the Club ‘wants to do’ but can’t atm eg. a recruitment analysis dept, and completing the Academy rebuild to name but two. Some other issues like essential stadium maintenance also eats in to the budget. The move to grass was interesting, saying we need to use the one year grace period well, but timing is key. If we go up this season, the extra income from the Premiership will help pay for it, but if we fail to go up this year and the grace period runs out, then we need to reassess nearer the time how to fund the transition, a moving target. Need to say, really enjoyed the jumbo sized Falkirk Daft podcast tonight. Informative and I was gripped, well done lads and keep up the good work. FalkirkBairn2021
Has the £3m transfer fee we will get in January for Keelan Adams been factored into the budget?

Bairn in Exile
What I want to know is how did nobody else snap Keelan Adams up before us? He must have been seen by scouts umpteen times. Not complaining like.
Big chungus
So the game hasn’t been picked for the TV.
NavyBlueArmy1876
Looks that way, imagine picking such utterly mundane fixtures as Dundee United vs St Mirren and Motherwell vs Kilmarnock instead ffs. Literally any of the other games would've been a better choice At least a Saturday 3pm kick off will probably add 500 on to the gate ETA: Only the arsecheeks on TV. The other two games moved because St Mirren and Killie are in Europe presumably? Edited July 30 by NavyBlueArmy1876

JulioBairn
It seems Premier Sports are streaming our game live? Surely some form of payment will be given for that? Enough for a player

Springfield
Main stand filling up nicely for Friday, apart from both end columns, looking very busy.
