It’s weird how the oddballs come out in force when things are all going wrong, people ranting like they own the club, people calling out our own players.

I'm glad as supporters, that the odd behaviour is in the minority, but for the odd few on here, its great entertainment.

But i think even a dummy like you would be able to tell, one of us was giving out the info, and one of us havers on here, shame your to thick to realise.

The way you talk about other people giving their opinions

Maybe its the truth you dont like.

Whether i was right or wrong, people are allowed an opinion, and you will just have to suck it up if it doesnt fit with yours.

😂

And the best bit is you do not and will never see the irony in it - most people think you’re the oddball by the way 👍🏻

What was it i said previously that you didnt like?

1. DC was a terrible manager and that he wouldnt change his tactics? ( I was right )

2. Was it the time i said there was bother in the dressing room, and 4-5 signed players left, i was called out and told there was no rift and that i was " havering " ( think again i was proven right )

3. Was it the time i said Noubles mates will not do, Dick said he was using Nouble and his contacts from down south to find players, this was in one of the local papers. ( I was right again all were pish and all gone now )

You surely cannot STILL be banging on about all this?

You really are a complete simpleton, if you have an opinion on a manager or a player its exactly that, it isn't truth or fact, you then go onto say people are allowed an opinion whether you are right or wrong but you don't seem to like it when people questioned the so called rift or the noubles mates thing.

Its all starting to make sense now.

The board forced Dick to loan Nouble so that they could exploit his connections.  After that, he was getting a cut of hospitality and so he was motivated to hire all Nouble's mates so that the Booths could rent flats out to them and make a profit so large that they could build two entire large scale housing schemes with the profits.  Not only that, but the board are in cahoots with the national lottery, and manipulate things so that the bonus ball they want is always drawn by the lottery on the last draw of the month.

Yes, it all makes sense!

Every post you make is usually full of abuse toward other Arbroath fans.

It's easy to express your opinions without resorting to abuse. Your reply to me is a case in point:

I note that no Arbroath fans have liked your post. I'm not surprised.

EDITED TO ADD - It's "you're too thick", not "your to thick", by the way. HTH

Nice to see the appreciation for Ricky Little.  The lad can time a tackle and he is the type of defender I enjoy warching. I thought he would be massive and was surprised when I got to see him at Gayfield.  Certainly a big presence on the pitch.

Was told by a reasonable source that McKenna and Hamilton would be joining us in the summer.  No idea if this will happen.

Iv heard Hammy looks a definite. McKenna not so much

This is just the usual speculation.  Manager leaves and all the speculation is that they'll sign all their former players. Its just the usual evidence free lazy speculation.

Still, time for the Campbells to give Deri Corfe another chance?

Yeah probably won't happen mere speculation.

Hamilton definitely will and he will be a good player in L2 still and a really good guy to have in the squad - he’s a bit broken after his horrendous injury and probably will do better as a centre half - potentially alongside ToB. I think we will need freshened up at the back

McKenna I’m really hoping will stay - Gold will be here and they’re very close so I’m kind of pinning my hopes on that unless he fancies a crack at FT for a year or two like some have suggested

I wonder what Dicks plans are if he does sign a fair few of our older core - I imagine he’s probably not thinking too far into the future and just has his sights set on getting out of L2 but at us he signed all these guys when they were in their prime with years and years ahead of them. If he signs them again now it’ll turn into a similar situation we’re facing right now in a couple of years

I don't really post stuff here that I've posted on the Archive's socials as I don't want to be shoving the same content at people everywhere they go, but I'm making an exception today ;)

Today's On This Day post is as follows:

On This Day in 1925 we beat King's Park 2-1 a Second Division match at Gayfield with Bob McFarlane and Bob Black scoring our goals

This was the last game played at 'Old Gayfield' with the pitch being moved and the entire ground rebuilt that summer. We played 560 competitive matches at the 'old' ground, and at least another 417 friendlies all of which are detailed in our archive!

image.jpeg.a6ec9ffc202860b1ca25908a3dc88596.jpegimage.thumb.jpeg.35d1bbf23c2fb56f97b9284762a8190f.jpeg

The main reason for posting this one is I don't think it's particuarly well known that we 'moved' ground in the summer of 1925, and even when it is many don't know why/ where the 'old' ground is in relation to the new one.

image.jpeg.6b29bdcc81a270039e3fa084ccb32d13.jpeg

Above is a picture taken during the aforementioned game - one of the only, and certainly by far and away the best, picture I have of the 'old' ground. The big hill behind the goal closest to camera is the 'Tatties Nook' end which was favoured by the home fans.

Below is a picture showing the two grounds on one plan; the dotted line below being the 'old' ground and the ground we've all known in our lifetimes is the one on top, the shape is ever so recognisable 99 years later :D

image.jpeg.3fdcc3aa30e3f0063d9823d8be0031e8.jpeg

From here on in, the majority of this is from memory so I may be slightly off with certain bits...

One side of the ground couldn't be used at all due to the proximity to the road and with the school also being right on the opposite side of the road this couldn't be changed. There are various mentions in reports of players being smashed into the wall with it being just a few feet from the edge of the pitch....

The main stand at the old ground, clearly shown in the picture, was taken to the 'new' ground and sat opposite the new main stand (the one we still use today). You can see part of the old main stand sitting where it did at the 'new' ground in the picture below, taken in 1950.

image.jpeg.da4682bd8d0df8edd27720d4894f3d51.jpeg

Why did I use this picture to show that stand instead of the other ones that show it fully? The wall! ;)

I think, and this is my theory/ opinion as opposed to something I have factual evidence to confirm, that the wall closest to where the photo is taken above may be the only part of 'old' Gayfield that was kept and formed part of the 'new' ground. The photo from 1925 and the one from 1950 would be showing the same wall opposite Ladyloan School. The old main stand that was moved was demolished sometime in the 1950s IIRC (maybe 60s) and the wall was fully redeveloped just a few years ago.

If anyone has any questions ask away - I may fact check all the above stuff and post the other bits and pieces relating to it when on my own computer and not hiding the corner of my work office using my work laptop

With regard to the side that Simon says wasn't used at all, I'm sure that I read somewhere that there was room for one row of spectators between the pitch & the wall. It might have been in a report about the Rangers 'beaten on a back green' protest?

I'm not old enough to remember the old stand on the sea side, but remember that the ends & sides had covered terracing on the High School sports day in June 1968. There are a lot of older fans than me that can maybe remember when they were built?
