Ira Gaines
I'm pretty sure the Leicester squad will all be together to watch the Chelsea/Spurs game and there'll be cameras recording them watching the game together to potentially capture the moment they become champions. Describing the title win as 'tainted' seems a bit harsh though. It will be an amazing moment for Leicester's players to walk out in front of their fans as champions, but could be a huge anti-climax for everyone if Man Utd beat them. The Real Saints is a pretend doom merchant troll. Not really worth caring about their thoughts on this.

Much like Leicester this season, you simply could not have scripted that....

Fraser Fyvie
Montpellier 2012, identical scenario Not identical at all. Montpellier were about 50x more likely to win the league than Leicester.

TheScarf
He was a professional and three-time runner-up, though, and in any case I don't think knock-out tournaments and cups can compare. Leicester's challenge is the most difficult of all: maintained success over the course of a season at the highest level of the sport. To win a cup as an underdog is special but to win a league is just about as good as it gets. (Possible exception being the Champions' League: playing the elite over the course of a season in a half-league, half-cup.) Indeed, tennis is all knockout bar the last tournament of the year which is a league then knockout. You can get an absolutely belter of a draw in tennis too, even as an un-seeded player due to seeds getting papped out early doors. And yep, Goran was a GS finalist and a Masters champion too. Mr. Brightside
Except there's not. As the moron says. As you were. The fucking A League. What does it being the A League matter? It's all relative.
GiGi
Is there an actual parallel for this? It seems to be a pretty unique story. Rangers racking up 54 titles in 4 years?
Dunning1874
What does it being the A League matter? It's all relative. I agree that the A-League being an utterly dreadful standard isn't relevant, but the facts that it's done by franchise with teams being granted entry rather than promotion/relegation and far more importantly the trophy being decided by end of season playoffs rather than the league table mean it's not really a valid comparison. Montpellier absolutely is a valid parallel though. They'd only stayed up by three points the previous season.
gc_smfc
As mentioned above Montpellier are the only ones that come to mind for recent times in Europe's 'major' leagues. Was it not during or the end of the Lyon spell of domination as well. Pretty sure they spent less money than Leicester as well. Then the squad was decimated during the transfer window, as players like Giroud moved on.
Deeboy
No, it was when PSG and Monaco just started to pummel money into the clubs, Lille won the league the year before and Marseille the year before that.
Mr. Brightside
Wolfsburg winning the Bundesliga in 08-09 was pretty special. Also Stuttgart finished 9th the year before they won it in 06-07.
craigkillie
Verona winning Serie A in the 1980s would be another one. Still nowhere near as big a shock as Leicester though, given the relative finances involved.

Peppino Impastato
Not identical at all. Montpellier were about 50x more likely to win the league than Leicester. finished 14thpprevious season, no injection of money and never won it in their history. Identical.
