Trainspotting II / Porno

Recommended Posts

I enjoyed it, thought it was funny. I didn't like the choose life monologue, a bit too much of a cliche tirade at the social media/selfie culture. The finale was a bit ridiculous too, other than that I thought it was quality.

Seen tam Cowan a few week back at a football dinner. He's hilarious.

Seen him a couple of month back Had tears running down my face laughing at him especially the story about dropping in to the Jap restaurant on the anniversary of Pearl harbour Anyway T2 really enjoyed it never seen the first one on the big screen which might have been o good idea with the gruesome scenes People were saying that Robert  Carlyle put in the performance of his life but it was Spud who stole it for me  Would have liked to have seen him in the 1690 scene rather than JLM but it was still really funny

I thought the but with the snapchat effects was a bit cringey and shoe horned in for no real purpose (or certainly none that I got on first viewing).

What was going on there?

Think it was just taking the piss out of that whole selfie culture tbh.

Spot on for me - I was very disappointed in it.

Also don't get the love for the soundtrack - pish compared to the first one.

Maybe I need to watch it again......

The the difference is, although the original soundtrack had some older tunes, the majority was songs from the Bripop era, which like it or not, was huge at the time and encapsulated the feeling of the time, as did the film. Times have changed, music has changed and the way we consume music has changed. The original film and soundtrack were ideal for the time and can't be reproduced but the new film and soundtrack do a very good job of bringing the magic of the original back.

Finally got round to seeing this last night, absolutely brilliant.

Spud was the star of the film, but they all played their parts. I liked the whole nostalgic theme and the flashbacks to trainspotting.

As mention, the lodge scene is one of the best things I've ever seen on film. The portrayal of them knuckle dragging bigoted scumbags, could have been straight out the Saltcoats video doing the rounds a few months back.

I want to see it again already.

The Choose Life monologue was one of the worst part of the film I thought.  Far too pleased with itself.  And the sound editing was terrible for it as well for some reason.

Really enjoyed it.  Not a patch on the original, but a very good film nonetheless.  A few very unexpected lump in the throat scenes too.

The 1690 scene had me in kinks and was actually pretty accurate as these places go, in an exaggerated way.

The soundtrack was ok, but not as iconic as the original.

Spud absolutely steals the film for me, though.  They even manage to take one of the worst plot threads in Porno and make it one of the best things about this film.

See, if you'd looked just a few posts back you'd have saved making an arse of yourself.

It was average 6/10 imho .

Thought storyline was ok but the characters were disappointing  with Spud a tad over acted .  The Begbie escape and no evident search far fetched .  The 1690 scene funny but the notion that most bank cards kept in coats on a rail a bit silly .

The end a bit muddled .  The Bradley Welsh and George Best scenes were great .   Also liked the blackmail concept .

Yeah the fact that Begbie escaped and stayed at his ex's house without so much as a chap at the door seemed a bit unrealistic.

Was actually rather disappointed with it given all the gushing praise it received on here.

An element of 'we're Scottish so we have to love it' creeping into the reviews I suspect.

No, it's not bad, but it's not great either. And in your heart you kind of know that although it sounds alright, it's actually just shite.

Was Begbie serving a sentence for murder in T2 or was it just for a string of armed robberies?

It's been a while since I read the book, but I think he murdered someone in jail, hence why he's in for so long.

That might be bollocks though.

I was thinking maybe the guy he glassed and kicked to f**k in London had died and that's why he was in jail for so long. Armed robbery plus assault/gbh could still have got him 20+ years though.
