Mark Connolly
Ernie was a bit unlucky with the bounce at 17, but it was pretty wild already tbh
Guest
Not sure why so much booing was directed at Poulter - apart from the fact he's such an irritating c**t.Think you just answered your own question there

That course has no business holding a major. First round leader in 2018 shot 66, and there were 17 players -2 or better at end of Day 1, so this clearly isn't the zinger you thought it would be...
Honest_Man#1
I don’t really understand why the majority of people seem to worry/complain about pros tearing up a course and the winning score being low. Why is that a problem? You’re still competing against the same field, so find it slightly odd that people seem to against a winning score of 20 under rather than 5 under.

In the easiest conditions ever. And still 7 under would have won at the end of the week. St Andrews this week you could see 20 under. It's an embarrassment. Another thing about that fuckin course the valley of sin my arse. It's just a wee hollow at the front of the green. Nothing remotely remarkable or impressive about it. When you see it you're like is that it? Laughable. They just gave it a cool name. As I said before it's the greatest marketing exercise in human history. That's what the old course is.

And 17 players 2 under or better that's fantastic for Carnoustie. A sign of a wonderful course. Conditions were perfect, that's 10% of the field mate. So 90% of the field were 1 under or worse in perfect conditions. St Andrews today 50% of the field could be 4 under. It's embarrassing.

What does it matter how much under par the winner is at the end of the day? Oh and btw, the town of Carnoustie is just a shithole. It's a town that has no business staging a major.

Cause that's not what they want. The idea of a major is to test the best players in the world, give them a challenge and identify the best players What they want for majors is if you finish under par for the week you'll go pretty close. But St Andrews is so easy there's just nothing they can do with it. They already have tees literally on different golf courses and put the pins in stupid positions but it still gets torn apart. -
pozbaird
Barshaw Park public course in Paisley should have stepped in to host the Open this year. Save St Andrews the embarrasment. Getting pelted with Buckfast bottles at the 13th and having your ball nicked from the 16th fairway would sort out the Schefflers and McIlroys of this world - and stop scores being too low. R&A definitely missed a trick.

Where are you from? They don't play it in the town mate they use the golf course. And we have the best one in Europe, possibly the world. Our beach was named top ten in Scotland yesterday topically enough.

Have played both the Old Course and Carnoustie, which might be a better test of golf, but St Andrews is by far the better venue.
