  2. It has been a privilege to be able to compete in the Lowland League and support its development. As the SLFL has become more competitive we have realised it was more a matter of when, rather than if, we were relegated. The University could have done a lot more to give the team a chance to survive in the Lowland League using the model adopted by the University of Stirling and others but playing in the professional game was not their priority. Our 150th anniversary as members of the SFA is just round the corner and we look forward to meeting new and old friends in the EoSFL. Many thanks to Sean and the new management team for a positive approach to a difficult challenge.

  3. What about that clearance on the line from I think Tait? Unbelievable. No point being critical of anyone at this time in the season, that team is leaving everything on the pitch every game. Nesbitt was astonishing

  5. I've never seen the attraction of wearing football colours/strips outwith match situations. When I see folk on planes wearing football jerseys, tracksuits etc, I don't think "oh look, there's a (insert name of club) supporter.". I think "oh look, there's an ar#ehole."

  6. Not even a farcical mis-spelling of "Libya" could prevent me from banging in a 10/10. Lovely stuff.

  9. Having read these recent posts I'm marvelling at a national sport which dispenses summary judgement for bureaucratic infractions of a minor nature, yet remains mutely inactive about decades of singing about being up to one's knees in ****** blood. Remarkable, quite remarkable.

  10. It is. To bring it back to league chat (as was the OP's main target) its almost as bad as the fact a club like St Mirren has never won the top flight title. Like - as in - not even one time. In almost 150 years.

  13. Yep. FSS Player of the Year, Junior Bairns POTY, Players POTY, Fans POTY & goal of the season. (Montrose I think). On the womens side, Iona Bridges won POTY, Ella Stewart breakthrough POTY (now a first teamer while still a schoolgirl and a cracking wee 'baller) and Outstanding Achievement went to Rachel Pirie. The women will have their own private awards night for players and staff after the season is over, hence why the categories are a little different from the men. On the recognition side of things, Jean Sneddon got a Lifetime Achievement, Joe Wallace (retiring groundsman) an Outstanding Contribution and Robert Cox (longstanding volunteer and current boardroom attendant) Special Recognition. The Foundation did similar awards for some of their people. Club staff are likely all off today but I'd assume there will be announcements, stories and pics uploaded tomorrow.

  14. A reminder that Kevin Van Veen has 10 appearances with Kilmarnock for 0 (zero) goals, and 1 (one) assist, thus far. All things considered, given Vale's contribution compared to Van Veen's, we were absolutely correct not to throw money at him.

  15. Some of the absolute leaps in logic over the past couple of pages man Our player is about three inches from nearly decapitating someone and folk are giving it the ol' "man's game" and "back in the day they'd have settled that with a firm handshake" nonsense. It's as clear a red card as you're ever going to see and it remains so regardless of whether there was intent or not.

  16. Talking to Coll in elliots tonight and he said 'I'm just glad the Kelty player was ok" and that he was sent off for 'serious foul play' so it's a 2 game ban that the club are not appealing but he did joke that he's going 'full John Terry' on the last game

  17. If you were a Buckie Thistle fan you'd be livid with the club. As a neutral who supports a L2 team, I'm livid with Buckie for making it easier for EK to get into the league.

  18. I don't think we should be chasing off supporters of other clubs. I've got a group of mates (a hibee, an Ayr and a Celtic supporter) and we regularly go to random games around the country to visit smaller clubs we haven't been too or to a game we fancy for a day out and I wouldn't expect us to get chased out of somewhere just because we weren't local diehards. If the way we play starts attracting day trippers all we should be doing is getting them to spend as much as possible.

  20. Second week in a row it's final tables on Saturday. In the top division it's an Abu Dhabi doo for @Helpma who becomes a 17 time winner by 1 point from @TheGreenElves who takes his 28th second place on QD from @Bully Wee Villa. Heading down are @Ross. @peasy23 and @Duszek with @Leeds Saint in the playoff spot thanks to @Aubrey Maturin and @Cardinal Richelieu having better QD. We have a first time Wannabe winner in @velo army who jagged @Arch Stanton by 1 point into second place with @The Hologram also heading up. @Eednud pipped @German Jag to the playoff spot on QD. They probably all know where they left their bucket and spade so off to splish and splash are @ArmadaleKillie @pleslie99 and @senorsoupe with @BigBo10 in the playoff. The Last Chance winner is @JamesP_81, his 13th win at this level. Runner-up one point behind is @Claudia Gentile gaining his first promotion. Also promoted and a further point behind is @specsaver. @NJ2 is in the playoff. It's a Wooden Spoon ruby anniversary for @BaSeDG0DSA1NT

  22. For a support that go to such lengths to 'promote' their team and 'history' when on holiday abroad, I find it absolutely bemusing that 12 years ago, they didn't have the belief in the original club / mental acuity / organisational capability / generosity of spirit & pocket to form a cohesive collective in order to save the entity that played at Ibrox until 2012. Instead, they let their club die.

  23. 121st minute winner after coming from 3-0 down against one of the biggest clubs in the country, to reach your first FA Cup Final since 1987. Ruled out for this, by technology that's not capable of being that precise. One way or another it will kill the game for match going fans. Stadiums soon to be filled with tourists if you're lucky, and nobody if you're not.

  24. Sorry, but I am once again struggling to understand why any Dundee fan would want St Mirren to win any further games this season, and same for us with Dundee. If St Mirren’s opponent is Celtic, The Allstar 2012 Franchise, Hearts, or Killie - it shouldn’t matter a fcuk. Dark blues fans should want to see us pumped. I don’t get it, I can’t get it. Our primary concerns should be what is best for St Mirren and Dundee. If what’s best for St Mirren is for Dundee to get skelped by an Old Firm side, then for that game only, I want the Old Firm side to win. I’m not cheering FOR an arse cheek, I’m simply wanting the best result, the best outcome for my team. I make zero apology for that.

  25. And the one hundred and four yellow cards you've received in the league this year were, what, mistaken identity?

  26. I used to be almost as interested in English football as Scottish football. Everton were my English team an I've been down to Goodison countless times. But that was many moons ago. To me personally, the English Premier League is no longer football as I recognise it, a totally different sport which doesn't interest me in the slightest. I know loads of folk disagree with me. It saddens me to see the number of top English Premier League shirts on our kids.

  27. At the stage of genuine bemusement that the TV cameras in Scotland can broadcast a Championship game with 1,200 people and get all “we’re very sorry if the language has offended you” when some old boy goes “f**k sake, ref”, but 25,000 people bellow out about being up to theirs knees …….. and everyone just pretends like it doesn’t happen.

  28. If Gartcairn were a fairly new club at semi-pro level down in the lower reaches of the WOS I'd be understanding of their ground being as it is. Much less so of a club that's been playing at a semi-pro level for a decade & has players like Ian McShane, Kieran MacDonald & Thomas Reilly on their books.

  30. It's a shame that potentially whoever finishes 3rd bottom whether it is Glenafton or Arthurlie or Kirkintilloch Rob Roy will lose their place in the league to a Gartcairn who don't think twice about spending £15-20,000 on a player or two but won't install permanent toilets or won't spent that to have decent catering facilities. Dunterlie may have seen better days but you can get a pie and a refreshment and a really good view of the game & shelter from the elements. All should be normal at our level. The 4g cage grounds are just brutal and I know plenty supporters will just avoid going if Gartcairn/ Benburb / Drumchapel away.

  31. Basics of football but I suppose it needs explaining to you. Keepers make themselves available outside of the goal so that a misplaced pass won’t end up in an own goal. Hogarth did absolutely everything right. McCann played it without looking and it was completely his fault

  33. There are plans to record more than normally happens. The young student who does "story of the matchday" runs her own company and some of her people will be there on the day to record additional footage. She's very good, as to be fair Luke was before her. In addition to her input, the club were testing / trialing a new remote video camera at the weekend. They intend to capture as much as they can of what will be a historic day.

  35. That they shouldn’t be defacto English stations. I don’t think anyone is contesting that they are. Why are you struggling so much to grasp that? And why are you being such a condescending w**k?

  36. No it doesn't. It really doesn't. West Africa was a long standing source of bonded labour for the old world, including African kingdoms. Western powers scaled it up and industrialised it, but they weren't limited to being English. Scots also owned and helped run plantations. Look at the surnames in Jamaica. The Act of Union was a long time before British Rule in India or Malaya. There were charter companies with presence there before the 18th century but it wasn't full blown colonialism. Scotland and Scots should be aware of our role in a shameful episode in history. I get that it's uncomfortable but crying about the English baddy doing all the bad stuff is denial.

  37. It's not exactly the same as what you're asking, but Dundee FC haven't won the Scottish Cup since 1910 (Nineteen-Ten). That's an astonishing 114 years.
