Games in hand can be a liability when you have a small squad. A bad winter and we could end up with a 2009/2010 situation, with too many games in too short a period. Bit early to write us off, but things could be going better.

Ayr are flying at the moment.

Understandable, as we’ve already conceded an 8 point lead with no games in hand.

It'll never be understandable to concede the league when you're within 8pts in December. 

Even if we didn't have games in hand.

If we want to win the league we probably have to

1. Match Ayrs form until we play them

2. Beat Ayr in at least one of the head to heads and not lose the other

3. Win our games in hand

Doing one of those things would be a tough ask right now.

In all honesty, we can't continue with our current level of form for much longer, winning while not playing well isn't sustainable long term.

We're either going to drop quite a few points in the near future or we're going to find another gear or 2, if we find more gears it'll not matter what Raith or anyone else does.

I remember back in the 89's when we were miles ahead  of Bertie Auld's Hiberninan at the turn of the year only to go on a huge losing streak to be pipped by them for the old First Division title.

We have a small squad but, injury free, they can give a good account of themselves when at full strength.

Still a long way to go.
