I think your club should reflect on your own efforts at doing enough over a season to avoid being flushed down the pan. Not least given that the only reason you're still in contention on the final day is down to three points provided by, err, a ten man Arbroath team just three weeks ago. Or maybe you think it's unfair that every other club gets to play the only team worse than you too.25 points

Just took my 93-year-old Mum to vote, she's registered blind. In a very loud voice she said, "Which box for deporting the ULEZ protestors to Rwanda?" A cheer went up from the waiting voters.23 points

Dundee Fc v St Mirren thread bingo: - Opening remarks of hope that this latest thread shall not be a bin fire - - Some generally sensible comments about the game and potential starting 11 - - Mention of Dundee administration(s) - - Mention of Celtic store at St Mirren ground - - Mention of Dundee being a shithole - - Mention of Weegie's - - Thread now considered to be a binfire - IF NOTHING ELSE WE ARE FUCKING CONSISTENT LADS. Going to the game with 3 generations of my family today with around 170 years of supporting our wonderful, local club in total ranging from my dad at around 70 years to my nephew who’s in his first season of regular attendance (my brothers not yet told him that it’s not always like this and his youthful enthusiasm is fantastic). I’ve seen some good, great, average, awful and terrible sides since 1978 but today isn’t about comparing this side with others, it’s about celebrating this side for what they’ve given us this season. Make no doubt about it, this is something special, an amazing invincible season for Falkirk (hopefully) is something that’s is highly unlikely we’ll ever see again. Some will say it’s the 3rd tier but to go an entire season without one single blip in the league takes an unbelievable level of focus, determination and skill. I’m nearly 50 and I’m so, so, so excited about today - I can’t wait and I’m confidence I’ll shed a wee tear at the presentation as I’ll be bursting with pride. I hope every single on of you whether at the stadium or watching from afar have as good a day as me and the family do.19 points

I think we are mostly agreed that whoever finishes in 10th place will carry our very best wishes in the playoff versus East Kilbride.19 points

The best day of the season will be the released list announcement and it better include nearly every player.18 points

I actively disliked Hopkin and Duffy, stinking attitudes towards the club, the performances and the supporters. The same can't be said for Bullen. A very likable guy who wanted the best, just didn't work out in the end.18 points

I think we've forgotten that this is what happens to parties that have been in power too long. Leaders can only ever be forged in opposition. In government everyone that comes through the party has the support of a big infrastructure and then as Ministers they have the civil servants doing everything for them. They lack agency. They have to follow the party line and the communications plans - and the kind of people who take that route are happy to do it. Usually they've never had a job in the real world. As the leaders that got them to the top fall away, those left behind lack the skills and experience needed to replace them - and tougher still, to renew the party while it's in office. The other thing that happens is you accumulate war wounds and those only heal in opposition. Ideological differences become insurmountable and you can no longer maintain a coalition wide enough to present a united front to the electorate and to keep enough voters on board. You also become bogged down by the weight of your mistakes, which are inevitable for anyone running anything this big. In a normal country the SNP would have lost an election years ago and gone through this cycle but the opposition haven't been up to the job of taking them down, for many reasons. Those fretting about seeing independence - maybe you will, maybe you won't. But these movements always come and go in waves and you just have to work so that each wave is bigger than the last.17 points

Being honest folks can’t believe the way we are just now when you think of where we were end of last season. Everything about the club is good just now retail, sponsorship, team, management, fans, podcasts, board, Ultras, all our stars signing extensions, it is just brilliant. Hats off to all the folk who have worked so hard to get us here, you are all stars. After so may tough years the Bairns are riding the crest of a wave and long may it continue.16 points

I want to be first to say well done to the young team for changing what was often a dour, whingey, greeting faced fan experience into a stadium and match day with a great atmoshpere. I don't think anyone should overlook what difference their effort has made to the club, team and for the other fans.15 points

Don't disagree but the bit about focussing on fringe issues is wrong. It's the media that does that. The proportion of actual parliamentary and government time spent on those things is tiny. Here's one example - First Ministers' Questions last week was covered extensively in the media. If you watched, heard or read those reports you might think you know what they yelled at each other about. But here are all the topics that they covered after the ya-boo politics was over, brought up my MSPs of all parties: availability of medicines and the impact of Brexit, the 2030 GHG emissions target, making some environmental harms a criminal offence, freedom of movement in the EU for young people, the proposed Winchburgh train station, pay for care workers, pay for councillors (following a report recommending they get paid £24,500), funding for apprenticeships, funding for employability support, problems with the new restrictions on woodburning stoves, mental health services for young people in rural areas, the impact of Scottish Income Tax on migration and racial abuse in workplaces. And that's in the most politicised, most confrontational slot in the week, on a highly politically charged day. https://www.parliament.scot/chamber-and-committees/official-report/search-what-was-said-in-parliament/meeting-of-parliament-25-04-2024?meeting=15816&iob=135018 Then there's the Scottish Government news releases. Around the announcement of the resignation of the First Minister they've published releases on proposed legislation banning touting tickets when we host Euro 2028, £500 million per year in Child Disability Payments, monthly GDP estimates, support for people injured at work, adding £80 million to the fund to purchase and upgrade unused homes to get homeless people out of temporary accommodation taking it to £600 million per year, the passing of the Children (Care and Justice) Bill, a cash-first approach for families with young children in food poverty, completion of the £49 million new deep-water terminal in Stornoway... And that's in less than a week. The media do a fkn shocking job of representing what actually goes on in the governance of our country. All of them, including the so-called quality press. Unless they get their news at source, even those who think they have a good grasp on current affairs usually don't. Also, fringe issues are anything but fringe issues when they apply to you. It's a big country and we can fix lots of problems at once.15 points

You can't "know" but it seems a reasonable working assumption especially because we're playing for pretty low stakes here But it can be a gateway into the "We hate that lot because they hate us" bigotry that people like Wingnut are often, knowingly or unwittingly, entrenched into As the Buddha (566-486 BC Philosopher, Spiritual Leader and Chairman of Ancient India Heart Supporters Club) once said "For hatred does not cease by hatred at any time" Or as Yoda (896 BBY to 4 ABY: Jedi Master and secretary of Dagobah Supporters Club Hearts) put it "Hatred leads to suffering" Or indeed as Martin Luther King (1929-1968: Preacher , Civil Rights leader and Third Lanark fan) preached: “Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars Arrogance is an undesirable trait but when faced with the likes of Wingnut it may be hard to avoid but it's up to your own strength of moral character to not give in to hate Remember the words of Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900 Philosopher, Miserable Sod, Had a shockingly poor quality tattoo of Hearts Captain Isaac Begbie) "Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you." Cretinous Simpletons from utter shitholes like Wingnut shouldn't be hated they should be pitied, An Idea that was put best by Sergeant Bosco Albert Baracus (1952 -???? US Army, Soldier of fortune, Los Angeles Underground Hearts) when he said "I pity the fools"15 points

I can't get to all home (and away) games due to other commitments so have been paying at the gate when I can go. Despite this continuing to be the case I bought 2 season tickets this morning so that JM has my cash for the close season war chest.15 points

True, but you can only play what's put in front of you. Regardless, that was a seriously good Queens side that season who were clearly too good for the opposition ... and without any failures in the side we also had a standout in the so sadly missed Chris Mitchell in absolutely majestic form at full back who made the game look so easy ... a strong connection to the Bairns of course ... RIP Chris.15 points

And apart from anything else, why TF is anyone singing about political violence in Northern Ireland at a football game in Scotland? If it's so important to you, go and sing about it over there. Leave the rest of us in peace.14 points
